A lot of skills are being lost. Now it's too easy to buy a replacement, instead of repairing what's worn.

Panelbeating/leadwiping (as mentioned) is becoming a lost skill. Who gets their shoes repaired by the cobbler? Are dressmakers limited to wedding gear? Watchmakers? Thousands of printsetters?

I went looking for a welder in North Brisbane recently, and eventually got told that old "such and such" is the welder in the area.

It stands out that in an industrial suburb (Brendale), only one bloke is recognised (by other professionals) for his talent in welding.
