it's a risk some people take. i see alot of people driving cars that aren't engineered or have bigger cubes than is stated on report etc, i personally wouldn't take the gamble with the tyres or driving a car that isn't fully legal but others do. i'd be too worried for just that fact you mentioned, you hit or kill someone n your stuffed, plus @ $550 for a set it's too much to pay for a street tyre that will maybe get you a few thousand k's.
the Nitto NT05R's are a very good tyre, if you're running high 9's and slower they are a very good legal choice.
