that's whgat I mean. very very basic neanderthal adjustment method. Put enough tension on the inner cable via the cable housing to take up the slack.
Do pay attention to the clearance mentioned, otherwise your thrust bearing has pressure on it and prob. won't last long (or slip the clutch !!!)
Then see how you go for pedal heiight.

There is also a pedal stop inside the car on the steering column support bracket/box section. check this looks ok i.e. not bent or missing - simple peg that the pedal rests against iirc.
