I think that I may have jummped the gun a little, I swapped the tyres to the front and the noise seems to have followed the tyres!! Oh well, the bearings may be ok, so tyres it is. It is a shame as there is heaps of meat left on the tyres.
What I was expecting is similar to my "toy" car. I have a Porsche 911, 1975, and there are specialist parts suppliers that are mainly used. I was expecting a preferred ford parts supplier. I like online so I can compare price/quality of parts.

I had this 'bearing' noise also. Standard tyres were rubbish and once changed were fine.

Glad this was your experience also.
