get someone to crank the engine with the fuel line in a jar or a can, to make sure the pump is definateley pumping fuel...
you might have an issue with the fuel needle valve or the brass floats might be a bit bent and not allowing fuel to enter the float chamber.
Can easily happen during the carb stripdown / cleaning/ rebuild
Once you have fuel entering the float chamber, it should idle
