My Honda I did almost the exact same thing. Cord jammed plus blades felt loose.
In my situation I actually made it worse by "turning it sideways the wrong way" (I know nothing mechanically)....rookie error apparently as it affected the engine.
I bought a cheapie that runs perfectly (so much lighter for my back and warranty) so not end of the world!
