Fact of the matter is that everyone's personal circumstances will be different. For some, it may very well be considered a 'valid reason' to travel to another state to buy a car. For others it won't. Unless we all knew the
OP's exact circumstances, it is wrong, IMHO, to say you will either be ok or not.
We can all create a list of hypothetical circumstances that support the 'yes, it's ok' argument, or the 'no, it's not ok' argument.
I was simply trying to point out that, if you don't have a valid reason, you run the risk of a fine.
What the
OP (or anyone else considering a similar thing) chooses to do is up to them.
