My tach reads around 1000 to 1500 on the high side it's been that way since I installed Pertronix and the matching coil. I have tried all the fixes from Pertronix including resistor and diodes inline to tach to reduce the signal. The resistor reduced the signal too much and the tach would not read above 3500 even though the engine was still revving the diodes did nothing. Maybe my tach is bad it's not a repo it's genuine. Does anyone have any ideas before I buy a new one?

Could it be a 6-cyl GS tacho & you're feeding it with V8 pulses. I'm not familiar with these tachos, do they have a 6/V8 switch on the back of the housing ?

Not too sure Dr, I think the 6cyl gs falcons had 6000 rpm tach. No switch on the back of these.
