Default Stock xr5 turbo

Evening all,

Wondering about what the xr5 turbos come out of the factory as for PSI boost and such.

And if i should fit a turbo timer to mine?

Also recommend any modifications?

Cheers.

Pretty sure just short of 1 bar would be a good guide. It doesn't come with a factory turbo timer so safe to say it isn't required unless you do some pretty substantial changes. Aftermarket engine file is the best bang for buck, if you can extend the funds to a larger intercooler that will serve you well too.

I am not sure what the stock turbo maxes out at but I suspect that pressure would be bigger turbo and he would no doubt have plenty of other mods to cope with it

0.6 bar stock (under 9 psi). Standard turbo can be pushed to around 1.2 bar (~17 psi), but it runs out of puff in the top end feeding 2.5L so it will drop off as the revs climb. Any more boost than that needs a bigger turbo. Big power needs block modifications as they bored the crap out of it to get it to 2.5L.

Don't bother with a turbo timer, just make sure after a hard drive you cruise for a minute or so to let temps settle.
