Default Colour Shockwave

Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light of BA MkII Fairlanes being produced in the Colour Shockwave?
I thought Shockwave was more a Falcon Colour and more specifically for the XR models.
I would think it would be a rare Colour in the Fairlane models.
I have seen a 2005 G220 come up for sale.
Cheers Greg

The only unique colour for the first G220 series was Icon. Other colour choices were Winter White, Luscious, Silhouette, Lightning Strike, Zest, Blue Pearl, Vibe and Mercury Silver. Shockwave wasn't listed even as a Fairlane colour over BA or BF.

Yes, a handful of G220's were built in Shockwave and some BF G8's.

These cars were prone to losing their paint however due to a primer adhesion issue.

I dare say it might be the only Fairlane painted Shockwave from the Factory. I have confirmed with the seller providing me with a copy of the which shows it was ordered and sold by a Queensland Dealer in Shockwave

Just read this after posting my previous reply to russellw. Sounds like the issue that Hyundai have with some of their models. Lol

So did ALL Shockwave cars have this issue, or just some? Most?

There was a paint recall for said reason. Its long past its used by date now, but from memory the factory resprayed cars have a sticker in the door jamb. I had a mate who had a ba2 sr in shockwave and the paint was failing. No sticker so it had not been resprayed when that recall was valid.

Not all had the problem, basically the paint separates in flakes from the primer. The problem was from the paint supplier itself, Ford being the end user carried the burden.

Shockwave first appeared on BA Falcon XR and FPV models from at least October 2003 with paint code W5.

For BA MK II, Shockwave was available across the whole sedan/wagon/ute/FPV lineup, however on LWB, it was only available on G220.

For BF, Shockwave was again available across the range, and again only available on G8 for the LWB range (Shockwave and Blaze were G8 only because of the full body colour treatment rather than the accent coloured side skirts and lower bumper skirts).

For BF MK II, Shockwave was again available across the range and Fairlane G8. The FPV Force models were excluded.

The colour was then discontinued in December 2006.
