She may not appeal to everyone, in fact my wife cringes when the ads come on but the advertising strategy is aimed at a particular facet of our society and they (Ford and the marketing firm) believe that she is the best person to get the message across to the target audience.
If it didn't work, she wouldn't be doing the ads.

What are you basing that comment on?

According to the first article I found on google, Ford Australia sales figures overall are up by more than 15% compared to 2015.
Merry Christmas

No need for "sarc"

Ford sales are actually doing quite well.

You must really have a syndrome of some sort.

The only Ford vehicle selling in respectable numbers is the Ranger..Everest must be a disappointment..as for the Euro's, they are a blip on the sales radar...It has been said here many times, Ford needs a new marketing strategy. David Attenborough would see Ngaire Dawn Fair as new species of preying mantis !!!!!....
Merry Christmas, safe travels and great 2017.!!!

how were the 'new' ranger figures when it was first revealed in PX guise? I can't be bothered looking it up, but i feel very confident that you would have been one of the ringleaders calling it a failure also.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Ford are listening to the public and solving problems that face Everest, which should see it credited with MC rating, which may broaden its appeal. Even still, its early days and if it takes off half as good as Ranger, Ford will be very happy.

As for the other models, what evidence do you have that they are failing? Sales figures show popularity, not profit.

G'day...What about a modern take of this Ford classic "Have you driven a Ford lately" ad..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO7wDFGQB6w
still one of my favourites. Ford Australia , although Aussie- fying the US versions of many ads made plenty of our own like the "Must be stuck in Third " one for the AU XR8 ute , the funny early 1970's ones and the dynamic late 70's to mid 80's ones too numerous to link here..Different times and demographic of course but they must have worked then...What about this very early one that depicts the time it was made https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_uZTq-yqR8 ..Trim Taut Terrific...

This clip features both the US and Australian versions of "Have you driven a Ford Lately " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKEeor3kbKM&t=147s .

I like both versions and to be honest it kicks the backside of Ford Australia's recent insipid efforts... .Cheers Rod..

So Toyota use a female, Ford use a female and recently I think I also saw a female advertising Holden making three big manufacturers using females to sell their cars. Must be trending.

Holden have used well-known "celebrity endorsers" in the latest round of ads - people who are well known, such as the chef, Luke Nguyen, and actress Claudia Karvan.

I think while Ford & Toyota realise that the car buying public is no longer a male dominated consumer market, and have gone the route of the young female role in the ads, Holden have taken it further, and are targeting their ads to all people, of both sexes, and all ages, who don't necessarily want a "pretty girl" (debatable) to sell cars to them.

The 5 celebs they've chosen have earnt respect in their field over years of hard work, and have fans that cover a broad part of the community.
More important for the corporate image - they are people who have not had scandals, or are known for distasteful things - just "good wholesome people" as the yanks would say.

More info here:
http://media.gm.com/media/au/en/hold...rstodians.html

But Ford don't need to cover the broader market like Holden do. The Ranger practically sells itself. They need someone to appeal to the younger buyer of the smaller car range, and much as we may or may not agree with her looks, Dawn seems to be doing OK, as they haven't sacked her yet.... but they could do with someone else (as well) to push along the Everest sales....

Thats why I always let my wife do the talking at that stage of proceedings and I just sit back and watch the show.

G'day , sitting here watching Smith and Handscomb pounding Pakistan all over the shop as the rain hangs around outside while the mower is chomping at the bit to cut the grass and the Toyota "it's a long list ,going to be here a while " and then soon after the "very lux" ad are on...and the KFC over the fence one..
Even though they are only showroom ads the Toyota girl has a great smile and just catches your attention..Just a bit more engaging than Ms Dawn-Fair..
On Toyota ads...Remember this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbBx4Ql6Umo and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39fFJOWee4k ..
Very very funny and remembered well... Cheers Rod..

Lets wait and see where the year ends overall from the headlines during the year Ford could have had there best year for a very long time, I thought this would please people on this site or looks like more looking to bask or searching for failure.

The public need to be informed you can buy a Mustang from a Ford dealer.
You don't buy a Mustang and have it converted to right hand drive, all our Australian Ford dealers will sell car, parts and service just like any other Ford.

Whats with the latest Kuga ad......wtf? Giant sprinklers and kids getting wet on the back seat through the window? Nothing about the car itself actually mentioned.

I do understand their marketing strategy but it wouldn't sell me a car...... But then I'm not the target demographic either. At least they are advertising more of their range more often now. That's a very good thing, whatever the marketing strategy they use.

Considering females have the final say in 70-80% of all car (non LCV) purchases, then it makes sense to have one fronting the ad.

She has the ability to be cute and not so cute, if you google image her it all depends on the hairdo.
