Talking Had lots of fun at Calder tonight and got a new PB

It was my first time at Calder and my first run of the new year tonight. Caught up with a few AFF members, MyloXR6, Spoolman, Xrcist and 5Speedeb. It was a pretty good night out there weather wise, once it cooled down after sunset there was just a bit of a headwind but not too strong.

I set a new PB of 14.577 @ 95.67mph with a 2.186 60ft.
My previous PB was 14.73@97mph with the 3.45 gears.

I am pretty stoked about that as the new 4.11 diff gears have been proven now. I had a few runs in them before but the weather was too hot and windy.

Big thanks to Spoolman for organising letting us run from the infield, that was really great.

Congratulations Doug, 14.5 is a great time
Funny how your ET was quciker even though your final speed was slower 95 vs 97mph.

Yeah it was a great night, you were running about same mph as I was. Your lack of traction killed your 60ft times, maybe you need some drag slicks?

Thanks 3, when are you taking your beast out for a run at the track? Slower MPH, but better 60ft thanks to the new 4.11 diff gears.

As soon as i get a custom tune I'll take it for a run. Without it i'll probably end up running high 15s and embarassing myself e

XRCIST, 15.46 is pretty darn good for a stocker. Did you stall it up?
Btw have you fitted a trans cooler?

Well Done Doug a just reward for all your efforts at putting in the time drag racing.

George is no longer a Drag Racing Virgin he enjoyed it.

AU1XLS also run a PB (12.8) then paid for everyone's (10 of us) pizza thx Gaz.

I was happy to see my car run 11.5@124.8 MPH, mid track 99.2 mph - crappy 60 foot 2.00 thx to Muaz..Car was run in STREET TRIM.

Infield runners now only get one run every 30 mins so starts 6.30pm is the 1st run then 7 pm and so on. The infield was very busy with comp cars last night.

thx to all the guys who turned up and made it night, our Forum was mentioned several times during the night and it was also said how good it was to see plenty of fords out there.
If you guys could forward me your best time of the night with your car colour and name if you want it written PFM photographer did take pics and wants to put names to the car but cant guarantee what shots will be used as this is left up to the editor.

Great result. Looks like your car is very consistant with Mauz driving it. What tyres are you running? I've recently upgraded to Toyo's all round.

Damn ANDRA regulations here mean I have to fit a tailshaft loop, 4 point harness and get a licence before I can head back. I'm not after a one-hit-wonder, rather consistant and repeatable et's and mph.

Seems there have been a couple of timing anomolies at the Motorplex lately.

Yep Mauz driving it, what could be better than flogging your own Rapid F6 then flogging someone else's.
Tyres are same as always Toyo R1's.

We are supposed to have a loop and harness also, guess a stock looking FORD dosnt look like its going to run 125mph so they leave us alone.
''Timing anomolies at the Motorplex'' were the backed up, i think its supposed to be with 3%?
Is this correct Chris 3%?

Nuff said! WGAF where it's run. Danny, would you say your car runs consistant 13.2 @ 106 mph, or would you go telling everyone it runs 13.3 @ 138mph?

Yes I do, owner of the car is a member of the FPV/Tickford club in WA. Ran the higher MPH the same day I was racing. There's no way the car can pickup 10mph when the 60, 330 and 660 et and mph were all the same.

There's a lot to be said about cars running consistant times and being able to backup their times run after run, rather than cars that manage a one-pass-wonder. Something that can run 3 consecutive passes within 0.1-0.2 seconds and 1mph is a consistant car.

Consistancy can dispell any claims of fluke passes or timing anomolies.

To true mate, consistancy just shoes what the car can do day in day out.

Hey Mark, you car just gets quicker and quicker everytime drop into this forum area! Can I ask how you're managing to get good power down on the Dunlops, or are you using other street tyres? I guess being auto helps as well, but so far my car in 'street trim' would have bugger all chance of getting any traction in first and second in a sprint unless I induce some serious clutch slipping:gren:

Thanks Col, using Toyo R1's yes they are street legal but there a fairly soft tyre.
Because we have no edit software for the 6 speed auto means the car leaves the softly, its not on the boost once out a few feet the boost is on and away you fly...
4 speed auto guys can stand on the the stall bring up the boost before they take off can also use any size hi-stall they like.
We will see 10 sec passes from these cars with auto edit software with factory fitted engines, they make the power to this in Street Trim with a good custom tune.
All this with factory 2.73 diff gear ratio, these cars really give you the best of street and strip.

.

Well done Doogstar and Spooly, good to see you guys prioritised fun over the ET - coming away with a better ET is always a bonus.

Dougy, time for the next mod, its been sitting in my engine rebuild room since November, time to fit it.
