230bhp Rocket III

Triumphs 2.3 litre Rocket III puts out 120bhp at the rear wheel, but if that is not enough you can now buy a supercharger kit to almost double the power.

Performance tuning specialist TTS has just finished development on the new blower and they reckon it ups the power on the massive cruiser to a stonking 230bhp at the rear wheel and an arm-wrenching 200 lb ft torque, almost double the torque of a Suzuki Hayabusa.

The firm took on the project as a special commission for a customer and initial shakedown tests put the top speed at around 160mph with quarter mile times of 10.7 seconds.

A Rocket III has already been fitted with a Turbocharger in the US but it only made 200bhp at full power (check out the May 25 edition of MCN for full details)

TTS (01604 636363) are now offering the kit for any Rocket III at £3400 or if you want them to fit it they’ll do all the work for £4000.

Turbochargers are powered from the exhaust gasses coming out of the engine where Superchargers take their power directly from the crank.

The Kawasaki ZX14 (released last month) produces 185 Hp and 197 HP with its air ram in stock standard trim. It weighs 210Kgs. It is the new 'King' in the bike world.

Initial tests give a genuine 300kmh (speed limited) and high 9's on the 1/4 mile. Exhaust mods, filter, tyre pressures and an extended rear swing arm reputedly yield 8's. And yes, you can buy a turbo for this one too if you feel the power is inadequate.
