Annoying noise

Hello all, I just got my car serviced today at a Ford Dealer which will remain un-named, and Just got it back and everytime I turn the fan on an annoying noise pops up which sounds to be coming from underneath the glove compartment...now my dad called them up and they said that they didnt touch the fan and and that they basically have no time for us to check what the noise is unless we pay them for an appointment....so i was wondering if anyone else has had a familiar clicking noise coming when turning the fan on! any help would be much appreciated...cheers!

there could be something stuck in the blower, does it do it on recirculated air or fresh air? or either?

the noise occurs as soon as i turn the fan on, and the noise occurs on everything, fresh air recirculated air even the front misters!!!

probably a leaf or something caught in it.

no idea how to fix it though.

If you can't pull it out by sticking your hand up the fresh/recirc switcher (passenger side under the glove box) you probably shouldn't bother as dash out is way too difficult unless it REALLY annoys you

You will need to have the engine on and set to recirc but do not have the fan on or you might lose a finger...

failing that, turn the fan up flat out and see if you can blast it outta there, had the same trouble a little while ago thanks to a gumleaf, trees, who needs em?

Oh thats sucks... on my old EL Falcon I got a leaf stuck in the fan and it was still there for the 6 months right up to its death.

I tried everything apart from pulling the whole thing apart!!! So bloody annoying!

yeah i've had that...didn't find out watch it was...i just turn the fan right up, left it for a few seconds turned it down then up again and it went away.... hope you can understand my very techinical instruction

Thank you all for your help, its much appreciated, but I'm beginning to wonder if it even is a leaf, because when I turn the fan off, that annoying clicking noise slows down to a stop and whilst slowing down to a stop I can hear a squeaking noise as it proceeds to slow down to stop! Its as if the fan is rubbing up against something! But I dunno it seems to be getting worse! I hope it is just a leaf!

it's definatley a leaf or a twig, even a small seed pod will give the squeak it's happened to me a few times, if you can't reach it don't worry about it it will eventually descintergrate if it really annoys you you just about have to disasemble the dash to get it out.

in the cabs we have experienced similar clicking noises in the fan. solution: replace fan. cheap from wreckers.

Its definitely a gum leaf or twig or something, my Ghia does the same thing every now and then, try maxing the fan out and switching between recirc/fresh/recirc etc etc... usually works.

pull the glove box down, lift up the fan flap and see if you can pull anything out, or get an air blower in there....

Exactly, open glove box, push sides in to disengage clips, and take glove box out completely, you will see a white flap that just pushes up, if you are unsure how, start the car and tiurn to recirc and watch it go up, then turn back to outside and watch it go down, turn car off, and lift up, there will be a leaf or something in the fan. I Quite often get fuel receipts up in there, somehow, but thats how to get em out.

Thank you, i did what you told me to do by removing the glove box and what do i see....a very long twig stuck in the fan, the ANNOYING sound has gone! Thanks for your help guys!

I have covered the intake to the fan on my AU111 with fly wire(the same stuff used in houses) after I had a leaf blow into mine. My car gets parked outside under trees at work AND AFTER THE 3RD time happening was driving me crazy. I made a screen that goes over the intake from fly wire for less than 10 bucks and about 20 mins labour. Try it if it is a recurrent problem and you wont be dissapointed. I have not had a problem since and the air flow is no dirrerent.
