Little (usually alloy) circle that sticks to the window used to slip in their (annual or six monthly I think) tax disc like we have to display our rego stickers.

Cars in the UK come under different tax brackets based upon their age, weight and power etc...

You dont need one

Tax Disc's in the UK are essetially the same as our rego stickers.

Each year, when you register your car, you get a token - its a lot like a casino chip. a 'Tax Disc Holder' sticks to ya windscreen and you slot the token into it...

Depending on where you drive in the UK, you might have more than one. You need a special one to drive during peak in London, so some cars have a couple stuck to the windscreen...

Why don't they just go with the rest and give out stickers ?? Who knows...Its the UK, they like to keep things the same....for ceturies...

That's all for today's lesson... Class Dismissed : : :

The amount of them for sale around the web would surely indicate a performance benifit?
Wouldn't there?

They're a bit like seat covers, a really good idea, but do you really need 'princess' written all over them?

Hiya...

Right, in the UK we have to pay an annual tax so that we can legally drive our cars on uk roads..

This is nearly au$ 400 a year.

If we don't pay our road tax then our insurance is nullified. It's just another way for our "really good" government to extort more money from us poor motorists

We also have to have a thing call an M.O.T. certificate (Ministry Of Transport) basically, it's a piece of paper that says the car is safe to be on the road.

The tax disc is then displayed in the windscreen of the car so that people can see if it's legally allowed on the road or not

Hope this clarifies

Hmm, that's cheaper than here in Aus.

Registration = ~$210
Pink Slip (roadworthiness) = $40 (only apply for cars older than 3 yrs or something).
Green Slip (compulsary 3rd party insurance) = varies... mine's like $300-400.

All dollars in Aussie dollar
