People must be blind because the lights arent that bad through the tint. For extra measures tho I used halogen globes in the indicators so they are brighter. Its a shame I couldnt do anything about the taillights/brake lights but it wasnt really that dull.

I dont have a written law but the cop who warned me for it said its not the way the manufacturer designed the lights and by me going and altering the lights, ie tint, clear lens etc, means I'm a manufacturer and I will need to go and get a certificate for the lights to pass RWC, or along those lines anyway.

no i didnt. i covered the whole back half in newspaper and the front half with a car cover but missed a small patch right next to the light- very stupid. now you are wondering why i didn just take them out. well one of my tail lights has a whole tube of silicon behind it due to leaking (old man) and the other one i would have had to take my boot insall out so too much mucking around. but they turned out great. i didnt go too heavy on it but came out perfect.

If there is a law that states its ok, then by all means its ok. I had a problem with a cop disliking my rego sticker placed in the left hand side, rear quarter panel window. He had a go at me saying its illegal and was going to arrest me because i said i rang up vic roads about it. Lol, he said he was real sorry and said he was having a bad day and let me go...... It is actually legal so long as its visable on the left hand side of the vehicle.

In regards to tinting tail lights im not sure if it legal (but seen heaps of cars that do it), but IMO not worth the trouble. Get a fairmont rear garnish and leave it at that.

regards

You have to be smart about how you tint your lights, Ive seen cars tinit them so dark, that they look black.

The least risky way to tint your lights is go lighter rather than too dark, and dont spray over the reflector part of the assembly.

On my first car (EA) I added a Ghia rear garnish, and tinted the whole lot, dark enough so you could tell it was different, but not 'fully sick' dark, when a cop had a look at my car he didnt ping me for it.

It is legal as long as its not to dark. not sure of the exact requirements but they need to be visible at a certain distance still. just be very mindfull of runs in the paint while spraying because they become very prominent when the lights are on.

It's basically legal if it passes roadworthy. If the cop happens to notice it and trys to get you for it just tell him it past RWC with it on. I doubt he could do anything about it after that.

Hmm, i got a canary a week after getting a RWC on the EB XR8, for leaks, windscreen, loud exhaust and muffler too low.
You still get a canary, but they go after whoever issues the RWC aswell.
I just said i know nothing about cars, and bought it because i liked the colour (everglade green) lol. and said that i heard about the tricks and traps of buying cars...
Moral of the story: they can still rape you for being unroadworthy within 30 days of RWC

My mate tinted his side indicators on his EL. Came up sweet. I told him to do this because clear indicators are expensive and the black goes well with the black side stripe. (his is GLi)

They only have to bust you for 3 items for a nice yellow sticker which makes you get a RWC.

So once they get the 3 items they wont look for anything else as when you get a RWC that will bust your balls for anything they missed.

Tinted Tail Lights are old skool are but still good.

PS Turbo's are illegal too snypered lol

I'm using nite shades on the Foc, only 3 coats, on the second coat i ran over it with 1600 wet and dry very lightly, comes up smooth as.

It also comes off with mineral turps and a bit of rubbing.

I find though it looks a bit purple, if you have a spare set, get some pearl black paint and mix it with clear until its the consistency you want. Spray that on the lights
