I spoke with Rick (the organiser) this evening, these guys really need numbers to show the council it's worthwhile going ahead with.
It sounds as though Sandown on Sundays may go ahead if there are enough hands up.

Even if you don't race, think of supporting this as a way to get hoons off the streets.

Anyone in South East Melbourne who would like a chance to race locally give Goldberg a pm or watch for the next update.

I will do anything that I can as stated in other threads, asked what was happening and didnt get a reply! If there is a smidgen of a chance for Sandown I will support it all the way but still cant see how they are getting around the locals and councils ... a car drives down Dandenong Road with a hole in the muffler they get upset!

Do you mean you want to hire the track itself? Good on you for wanting to get this off the ground- I hope it goes well.
Bear in mind, that there are very few Sundays left at Sandown which are free - most are taken with sprints ranging from club level to national stuff.... that and it costs over 5 grand to hire Sandown - that's just the track. It doesn't include ambo's, fire, CAMS/AASA? permit, radios etc........

Rick is opening this to all cars regardless of power or brand.
He suggested 16 second cars be run with other 16 second cars, 11 second with 11 second etc.....
It's about fun and promoting the sport, not racing for slips.

Some good news there with sandown but as for Tooradin being in a green belt...pft what a crock...The only thing there is mozzies, seagulls and maybe some frogs : Wouldn't the planes disturb the birds(seagulls)

this is what i think is the goal here

not who has the fastest car but who is attempting to get out there and have FUN

Any idea how this "Club" would be run.???
How will it run events at sandown?? Do they have timing gear or would it be just "heads up racing"

I will be keeping an eye on this thred for sure. Would it be better in the "drag racing" section. it would be easier to keep track off.

ok all i can say is the car club and cams a trying to get street cars of the streets. at the moment the club is learning to , thats why we need members to join so we haue the numbers to show council , sandown and police that we want to have drags at sandown and at torradin airport. the club started because of the hoons racing on the streets. rick and cams a trying to get them of the streets thats why the club has started . rick and me know how it feels to have family members get hurt or die from hooners being stupid. yes we will get timers ,but at this moment we a trying to get member to help and join to help get this kids of the street and show this kids the right way to go about drag racing. if we save one live we have done the job. if u guys want to contact rick let me know please ok regard goldberg.

Question

I keep reading these posts and they all seem so vauge..

You are asking for members... To 'The Club'

What club ?

How do you expect support to present to a council if there is no reference to the 'Club' for people to register their interest.

Confused.......

Add me to the interested list. But its not clear what you need from us to join this "club". Do you need signatures? Tell "them" to head out to Calder park and see how that is going. They got ~200 cars on Friday. If that doesn't tell a story I don't know what does.
