Default BEM Price

Hey all

Well by now I think you guys have seen the pic’s of my car and what's happened.
Now I’m beginning to think worse case scenario for it, and that is that the BEM is fried.
So I’m wondering what prices people have been able to pick BEM's up for? I think the ford dealer that my car is at want about $700 for one. I'm wondering about a low series one too

Also, will a high series BEM, work in a low series dash/wiring? If it's got to be replaced and a high one works, I may as well get the extra features that they have.

Cheers

I had a low-series Smartshield BEM replaced in my series 1.5 wagon 6 months ago due to total death. IIRC the workshop (not a Ford dealer BTW) charged around $350 all-up to:
- source a good used one from the wrecker
- R&R the units
- code the new BEM to the PCM (and/or vice versa) so the car could run.
