Need help moving EA narooma to bellambi

I got offered a 1990 EA the other day for $100 no rego , no show car but runs well though. The car is located in Narooma (past ulladulla) we have no way other than getting a car transport company to get it to bellambi.

Does anyone know of a good transport company, ive gotten quotes from a few, two companies came back and one was $475 the other $380.

Or if anyone here has the need for EA parts and is able to help us move it you are welcome to take ANY parts you want.

Plus a case or two and lunch naturally.

so if you know of a good company or can help (or if you know any loop holes around Mr Plod and a driving an unregistered vehicle fine) please send me a message.


P.s i was not sure where to put this so what better place to ask than the pub!

how far away is the car from you?
you can get a permit to drive an unregistered car if you didnt already know.

Your getting the car for $100, I don't think that another few hundred on top of that would be unreasonable. Then again, You did say Bellambi..

looked it up on google maps, its only 270 od km but if the car is a s@#tbox, i wouldnt be driving it that distance

Even though it runs well I still wouldnt be tempted to drive it unreg'd...
I know someone who tried this and the fine was up round 900 odd bucks...
Any chance you could hire a trailer to go and pick it up?

Remember- EAs are probably THE cheapest falcons on the market. Unless its a very good deal (like if it was a Fairmont Ghia or Spac with Lsd and T5) I would just walk away and find another one nearer to you.

My thoughts exactly! Really, for the $100 plus the few hundred you're spending on transport, you can get another very good EA (in Melb anyway).

mate im at shoalhaven heads, i woudnt be driving that baby unregistered either. how about you hit up the car yards, sometimes they transfer cars in between. for example you could ask tory toyota if they are getting anything from say bega (or whatever its called) toyota, stick your car on the truck and pay the car yard cash. can save you a bit o dough

bellambi is in wollongong, well the last one i bought for $100 was a magna elite, spend about $400 on it and sold it for 2k (only had 109,000 on it) i see it now and then a younger couple bought it as a family car.

As for transporting it on a trailer myself.... i would but the only thing we have atm is a bodgy swift and the ea, personally i wouldnt want to transport an ea on a trailer behind an ea, i checked and the wieght is about 400 over the max tow limit for her.

I have been keeping an eye out for local ea's but nothing under 600 atm, its not urgent but i was going to part it keep what we need (basically just trim and a few things here and there), then sell the rest on ebay or something.

DAVWAY: I had heard that but dont know anyone who has gotten a permit to drive an unregistered, and im not sure if there is a limit on how far you can drive on a permit does anyone know?

I was thinkin of gettin it and if we happen to get pulled up just say oh we were taking it to the garage to get a pink 4 it.

BFYOOT i think i might do that see if i can organise something like that.



then i could always just do what DAVWAY said and get a permit for it, its only 270ks after all PMSL long LOOOOONG walk if it dies.

I drove an XE from Melbourne to home (near Goulburn) on a permit a few weeks back.

There is no limit on the distance, provided you are driving directly from the pickup point to the destination listed on the permit. They are time limited, mine covered a weekend.

Should cost about 20-30 dollars and is not much of a risk if the car is any good at all.

I sold a car a few months back with a permit on it. The guy legally drove it from Melbourne all the way back to the Gold Coast!

yea permits are great we regurlarly buy cars down in sydney then drive them back to the gold coast and it cost bout 30 bucks for 2 days its the best system so far trailers can only get you so far.

Yeah i just checked the website, and it is way cheaper than a trailer and all that screw around.

no, it needs to be drivable and safe.
no inspections are needed.

according to the RTA website

You will need to visit a NSW motor registry in person, or authorise a representative to attend on your behalf (NB: if you are not already recorded on the RTA’s computer system, you must attend the registry in person), and provide the following information:

A document to prove the vehicle is roadworthy (a safety inspection report or customer declaration of roadworthiness for specific vehicles).

CTP Insurance premium This is determined by the CTP class of vehicle, zone in which the Unregistered Vehicle Permit will apply and duration of the permit.

(which for us will be 2 days or thats what i would take as a justin <just in case>)

I dont think we will have any trouble getting a pink for it anyway.
