Default What's up with redbook these days?

Hi Guy's

I quite often jump on redbookasiapacific and have a bit of a squiz and look around. I noticed just now that they dont have a price guide any more for private sale or trade in very strange. So I jump on redbook.com.au and you can still get a price guide for both private sale and trade. Its not as user friendly the way its set out or as quick as the old way using redbookasaiapacific. Wonder why the change (I only log on as a private user). Also the new one now asks you to ender a code example hjk4 before it takes you to the car you selected. I know you can get a valuation certificate as has always been the case and I think that redbook.com.au is $3 or so dollars cheaper than redbookasiapacific? Also I like they way you could compare cares using the asiapacific site which you still can now but with no bolldy price guides WTF? :

you should be using the one on Drive.com.au
it is powered by GlassGuide which is what the majority of car dealers use to value cars.
much more accurate and representative.

I've said it 1000 times b4 and I'll say it again..... Red Book is a useless piece of rubbish.
They don't buy cars. It is that far incorrect it's not funny.
It is made up on an aust wide estimation of value. The price a car is worth
in lets say Darwin is not the same as the value of a car in Sydney.
If you want a true reflection of price go onto carsales.com or
carpoint or any other for sale site. Narrow it down to within 200klm of
where you live and this will give you a true reflection.
No car dealer, insurance company of finance institution in the
country uses this useless little book so do you honestly believe it can be any good.
Sorry if I offended any1 but its the truth.
If you want a real figure Glasses guide is ya best option

having sold cars for ten years. There is one absolute truth as to what a car is worth... and that is this.

A car is worth whatever you can get for it.

Touche my friend as they say a house/car/bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

The reason it has turned to crap is simple and can expressed in two words "Reynolds" and "Reynolds".......

Used to work there, those values you see on private side of the website are simply the receptionist going through the local trader and entering the sale prices for each car in the paper, and then it is just an average of those. Hardly something to go by, how often does anyone sell their car from what they advertise.

In saying that I can still easily find the Private and trade in sale prices, and can be used as a guide if you are looking to buy another car, I think it is good for that, and is by far the best tool for researching and comparing cars.

Carsales and redbook have always been helping each other out, and when I noticed the new website the other night and how simiar it was the the "all cars search" on carsales I'm thinking maybe they are making the merge.

I used to use it a fair bit, not for the price guide (useless), but as a quick resource for car information. Granted it wasn't always there, but it was always a good starting point. Stuff like kW, torque, weight, engine displacement, all that sort of stuff. Now it's impossible to find anything.
