Well it does use the same platform and the same base engine. However, I can easily see were the extra money goes. The F6 is an awesome package with a lot of extras over the XT. When you start adding the total cost of the options 1 by 1 you would find the F6 to be very cost effective as a performance car.

What I meant to say was I can't see where the extra $120,000 in options are in the W427. Even looking at a Clubsport (or whatever they're called today) I can't see the value in the added cost. Aside from a different body kit and interior, the only major change is the engine. So, is the 427 really worth $70,000???

Just having a new front bar, wheels and rear wing, HSV know how to make it look special. Definetley won't be confusing it with a 'normal' GTS.

Come on.... If this was FPV doing a 500hp limited edition, we'd all have calouses and bruised backs from the combined high-fives and back-slapping! (Even IF it was over-priced to buggery!)
Mauz... Looks pretty damn good to me!... Good on HSV for raising the bar

Im not sure if it has been mentioned previously in this thread but the W427 has a few undercarriage bits thats not standard on the sedan range. Things from the wagon for the rear end (being 90kg heavier than sedan) have been used as they are stronger to withstand that power. And stronger diff is used too.

Sorry hijacked thread too.
Can I just sneak in another off thread question re CSV... Several years ago they were dubbed as Australia's smallest car manufacturer, was this the case? If so, is it the case now?

The 7L Commy is going to set an interesting benchmark for both Holden and Ford. Will be curious to see how things pan out 1yr down the track.

c63 would cost $300,000+ for 2nd hand
used M3 would cost over $150,000
even a 3yr old DB9 would cost almost 2x the amount

2000 LAMBORGHINI DIABLO SV would cost $199k with over 100,000kms, and im sure it would be easier to live with the w427 then some lambo that can only go on sealed roads without pots holes, 1% of the nation :P and not have everyone giving you the "soft (man bit)" finger expression

just makes HSV's case even stronger... i apologise but even id have one

0-100kph in 4.7sec hey, so if you go by HSV figures, its only 0.2sec quicker than a GTS

It is great it made it to the showroom tho !!!!

Ford just need to advertise that the Ford GT will be made to order for RHD

C63 AMG only costs 135k new, don't know where you're getting the 300k 2nd hand bit from.

The new M3 sedan will only be around 140k when it goes on sale soon, while the M3 coupe is less than 160k.

Price aside it's a bloody nice car, quick and with a few mods i can only imagine the numbers we will see, good on HSV for doing what FPV won't...

FPV... where our special cars that are more than badges and stripes for us to put posters of on our garage walls?

The W427 is not worth $155K - thats Nissan Skyline R35 territory, and that car IS better than nearly every supercar in the world (according to Top Gear time sheets and reviews).

Who cares if you can't sit five people in it, I wouldn't buy a $155K car to drive freeloaders around in.

All potential W427 owners need to get their hand of it.
