Thumbs up QLD Petrol 75cl !!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUEENSLAND motorists can look forward to petrol prices they have not experienced for five years, with the cost of unleaded fuel dropping as low as 75c a litre.
If the global slide in the price of black gold continues we may even be looking at prices at the bowser of 75c to 80c a litre - something .

The price of standard unleaded fuel is tipped to tumble below $1 a litre over the festive season after huge falls in international oil prices over the weekend.

The price has slid on disturbing news from the US which indicates the country has experienced its greatest number of job losses in 34 years.

The increasing unemployment and general global economic slowdown means a fall in energy usage and oil demand, hence the price slide.

In New York, oil fell to a four-year low of $US40.81 ($63) while in London the price went even lower, tumbling to $US39.74. Oil prices were trading about $US147 a barrel in early July.

Oil analysts yesterday said the falls would definitely mean cheaper fuel at the bowers but it might take a while for the price falls to filter through to end users.

"You have also got to consider the falling Australian dollar against the United States which tends to offset some of the oil price falls," an analyst said.

"But at the end of the day there is no reason why we won't see petrol below $1 over the Christmas period."

July - US$147 - with dollar trading at lets say 95 cents. = $154 / brl
Now - US$41 - with dollar trading at lets say 65 cents. = $63 / brl

Thats 40% of what we were paying for oil , but 40% of 160cpl = 64 cpl ... what gives?

Obviously we are going to be ripped off over the holiday periods, that fact of life will never change, but early in the new year I dont see any reason we shouldnt be seeing ULP in the vacinity of 80cpl, even then we're probably still getting ripped off.

The standard oil barrel of 42 US gallons is 159 Litres

159 Litres @ $1.05/L = $166.95 per Barrel

Good profit????

It would be interesting to see the final margin on refining costs.
It is a fairly complex process.
There must be a fair old surplus at the end of it for the oil companies and then lets not forget the governments take, then the distributors, then the station operators......

I doubt it. People have long memories when it comes to their wallets. Petrol prices may be falling but consumer confidence is falling with it. People are scared to spend their money right now.

When i bought the xr6 6 months ago the only reason i didn't buy a V8 or turbo was becasue of high petrol prices, if petrol was this low back then it would have been a different story for me.

This would be interesting, but I'd also like to see them include all the by-product. Plastics/bitumen etc etc. When oil prices go down the price of the missus tupaware should also be falling.

As a rough rule it takes 2 litres of oil to make 1 litre of petrol .......
So 1 barrel makes approx 80 litres.

this is why i always found it mildly amusing whenever someone from QLD would whinge about the price of fuel. they have for a long time had the cheapest fuel in the country. i've heard it also gets subsidised by the govt by 8c/l.

Considering its never 8c below the national average, Id like to see where our 8c subsidy goes.

Im not saying there isnt a subsidy, I know we are meant to get one, but we never see it, or if we do, its only by 1-2cpl. You go over the border, and the price is the same as it is in Queensland.
