I have one of those Carlex folding trailers and was thinking about fitting a 12v power socket on it somewhere so that I could run a camping fridge or whatever and have it stowed on the trailer. Something like the BA/BF has mounted on the centre console would be just super. How do I do this? I was thinking that I could just find the 'power' wire in the trailer's wiring harness and tap the socket wiring into that and everything would be peachy, am I on the right track or have I lost the plot? |

It is possible, we have tipping trailers at work that have power run through the plug to charge the battery on the trailer for the electric pump that drives the hydraulics.
To do it you would have to run the power through the spare and electric brake pins on the plug. Our trailers have 15 pin plugs on them to so the power can get split so that the whole load isn't on one little pin. Talk to a auto-elec and they will be able to advise you about current loadings etc.
