Default What a dumbass...

I just got an email from a scammer saying I've won a lottery and blah blah blah... Anyway, the funny thing about it is, he asks for every detail, including your pin number, but doesn't ask for a bank name or account number... Here's the form attached... I especially like the 3rd paragraph :P

Well if you went into a bank to get it, you wouldnt need the pin number without the card.. then you would need my signature and birthdate and a bunch of other he doesnt ask for.. I doubt he could get anything with the info he asks for anyway, idc about my address, he can come to my house if he wants... :evilsasmo

I think you'll find that the Pin number he is referring to is the Pin number of your email; alluded to in the letter ie 149591187.
Still a scam though.

If you REALLY had won, they would make sure it was more personalised...

That's irrelevant anyway.

The people that do fall for these things are often clueless when it comes to matter related to spam. They haven't grown up with computers etc. nor do they spend their time on Ford Forums where they can talk about things like this.

In the past week, I've had over a dozen emails from the 'Commonwealth Bank', where I have to log in and 'confirm my credit card details'. I just enter my ID as 5555555 with the password of 'eff-off-'c-word''

I feel sorry for the elderly who fall for things like this, because they come from a different time, when people didn't break into houses, people had manners, and people thought of people other than themselves.

That's nothing, does anyone else remember when some current affair show or whatever did a story on people caught out by some king faruq or whatever scam from nigeria, and they'd sent in some cases over 50 grand to get their hands on millions in unpaid works? There were serious business people who had been conned here too.

What a crock.

Just fill it in with bogus information and send it off... Just flood them with this and they will be wasting time trying to do something that just will never work... Let them receive a billion letters and see how they like it...

Nah it's real. I gave them my details and they said the money will be deposited in the next few weeks.

I can't believe I won.

yeah mad scammers.

my bro works with a girl at woolies, she got suckered in 2 years ago, got a loan for $15k (surprised the bank lent it to her if they knew the true use for it) and handed it over thinking she won all this cash. She is still paying this loan off !!!

As others have mentioned; the sad thing is that people do get suckered into these things.

I remember in about 1998 I was working in a security position and the government establishment I worked at actually got a letter addressed to them from the Treasurer of Nigeria saying they want to deposit $25,000,000 USD into our accounts...blah...blah...I rang a good friend at AFP and he laughed himself off his chair and said bring it over and he will add it to the pile.

I asked; surely - no Australians get sucked into this sort of stuff? And he replied: more than you would expect.

This was in early 1998 too.
