Default Focus LS and LT differences ?

Hi folks,

I'm still new here and I'm gonna purchase a used ford focus.

I notice that there are two series of Focus, the LS and LT. Tried to search the web about the differences between the two, but I can only spot the difference in front bumper.

Could you guys please let me know the technical and features differences between the LS and LT ?

Is LT newer than LS ?

Thank you in advance !

LT is 08 and LS is 07 i think. LS has side door protector strip, LT doesn't. LT being newer, it got some reported LS problem fixed.

LT also has different front bar, standard side air bags and indicators in the rear view mirrors over LS

Just to complicate things, there is also an LV range. This is the newest range, with the facelifted exterior.

Just to Hijack the thread for a moment - whilst on the topic of Side Airbags -
I have a 06 Model, and it has written SRS Airbag on the dash in front of the passenger, but wasnt sure how I can actually tell (without crashing the car) if it has passenger bags or not?

If it says SRS Airbag on the dash in front of the passenger this is because there is an airbag behind the dash plastic on the passenger side.

I think 2007 is when the change from LS to LT happened. I have a late 2007 LT.

The LT also introduced a few line-up changes such as a Zetec sedan, the TDCi diesel and the cabriolet

edit: LTs started to come with flip keys as well

Early 07 is still has the LS late 07 changes to the LT.
I think the look of the body is slightly different too.

for LT make sure you test drive the actual car that you're buying. Focus on gear shifting amongst other stuff. Automatic LT has gear box !! :-)

By that he means auto. There's a few issues with it that ford don't want to know about.

My recomendation, get a manual. With a car that handles this well you just have to.

To clear (or to add more) confusion about airbags:

Logo on steering wheel = Driver frontal airbags
Logo on passenger dash = Passenger frontal airbag
Logo on tag stitched on seat = Side airbags
Logo on body pillar trim next to passenger head = curtain airbags
Logo under steering column = knee airbags

Other things they changed between early LS's and later LSs/LTs:
- Fixed pinging problem on 91 Octane and E10
- Moved crash (airbag) sensors
- Windscreen wiper on slow changes to intermittent when car is stopped
- Hatch interior trim gained a lip on the recessed grab

A few of these our early LS seems to have. We have a 11/2006 model, which has the wiper change down and the lip on the recessed grab.
No idea if it has the the shifted airbag sensors though.

I don't think the knee airbags were an option for the Focus, at least not up to the LT.

My Zetec has the safety pack and so has the additional curtain airbags with the logo as specified in your post. But I don't see anything to indicate it has knee airbags.

Looking at the Ford website it doesn't appear to be an option on any of the LV Focuses either.

Must be for other Ford models.

By early LS I mean 05 models. I have a Oct/Nov 05 build LX, by mid 06 they had made the change.

Sort of a automotive standard.
