Default Another smartlock issue

Symptoms:
* Car will turn over but wont fire up sometimes.
* Smartlock 'hand' light flashing on and off while car is not on.
* Smartlock 'hand' light flashes like crazy when the car is started.
* Under light acceleration, car hesitates for half second then drives normal. Happens occasionally but noticed more often in the last week or so.

Certainties:
* Interior light definitely works.
* After a half hour of leaving the car alone, it will start as if nothing happens but smartlock light still visible.
* I can hear the fuel pump working
* Coil pack is less than a year old.

Possible causes:
* Smartlock Module
* Ignition module
* BEM
* Crank Angle Sensor

I just got a tip off from Bruce to try leaving the ignition on to full accessories position for 45mins to see if the smartlock resets itself. Will try this when I get home.

Anyone else willing to offer suggestions?

Another question, does an AU series 2 have smartlock or smart shield, and what is the difference?

AU 2 is smart shield. Much better security system, not sure of the exact differences though

Au 1 = Smartlock (same as eb-el)

AU2+ = Smartshield

AU2 they changed the key to the one with the 'chip' in it.

I have 2 keys for the car and 3 key fob remotes. Does the key have a battery in it? Would it make a difference if I tried using a different key and remote to access the car?

No battery in the key, only the "zapper"

Try a different key, it may work

as bizarre as it sounds, the car started fine, smartshield was flashing like crazy, get on the main road, flashing disappeared. Drove home fine. Get the spare key and remote, locked/unlocked the car , then turned the car on with the spare key. Started fine. No unusual flashing from the dash other than what normally flashes. Wtf?
