Older model

newer model

I think the newer wins quite easily here, the only area an older car could come out on top I would think is a very low speed minor accident, where steel bumpers would not deform and repair costs would be lower, thats about it.

That article is very, very telling, and highly pertinent to this topic. The technology crammed into that little car is quite amazing.

Also telling are the current poll results. Either 85% of voters are wrong (it can happen!) or the general consensus is that new cars are safer!

We don't need to go down the same path as the other locked thread. So I'd suggest you grow up a bit and drop it. You're not worth a ban.

Please read the manual carefully, as the these manufacturers spent millions of dollars making sure it is perfect.....Now why are there so many problems with my car, when I follow the instructions to the letter?....Answer, majority rules round here

Well it all depends on what type of accident you expect to have. And if any two cars collide, both benefit from either having crumple zones. So in a single vehicle crash I'd go the newer car, in a two vehicle collision I'd be in the old fairlane. At least then if I expire, I'll go out in style, rather than looking like a snag in the handbag. I don't expect to crash myself being a more careful than average driver, but I'm counting on some idiot putting himself in my path at some point.
