Default Momo steering wheels?

Hi everyone I did abit of a search but didnt find what I was looking for.
Im looking into buying a used MOMO tickford wheel but i dont know much about them.
Am I right in assuming that its a straight swap for my standard wheel? (au II forte).
And alot of the wheels seem to have a little bit of wear and tear is it easy to dye them or something? Or would they come up good if you used some leather polish or somthing on it?
Cheers

Straight swap for any steering wheel from EF thru to AU3.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Any idea how to go about reversing the wear a little bit?

Have to speak to a trimmer about that one but I have seen plenty of them recovered/retrimmed so you should be able to get something done.

I looked into retriming and found it not worth the cost either find a good one or you can still pick them up new. as it was explained to me because of the curve in the wheel a lot of leather is needed making it expensive

Any idea how much they are new? Im tipping stupidly expensive hahaha.
I might get some leather dye for the one I am looking at as it just looks to be faded more than anything.

Try Ford Spares for a current List Price - I guess somewhere in the vicinity of 2.5 Gs.

Leather dye works OK but you will have difficulty matching the colours - I had to mix two colours to get what I needed for one of mine (Wild Blue)

When it comes to actually changing the steering wheel you'll need a 5-sided torx bit to remove the airbag which is unfortunately pretty hard to find (I managed to find a set at a market). After that you loosen the centre nut but leave it in a couple of turns so when you pull the steering wheel off, you don't smack yourself in the face with it.

$300 you say - I'll take a few please.

I suppose the XR8 wheels may go for that but not the Momo wheels off the T-Series cars.

Best brand new one I found on ebay so far was $700... bit over priced for a steering wheel to go into my forte

Well I guess it's possible;-

1. A long time ago,

2. A fake,

3. A stolen item,

4. Someone simply didn't know what he had, and, no-one who did know saw it listed (except the lucky buyer).

So ... good pick-up for you.

I'm looking for a Momo steering wheel for my AUII Fairmont Wagon in either blue or grey. I don't want a red one, which appears to be the most popular colour.

I actually test drove an AUIII SR Forte wagon that had a blue Momo - it was pretty worn and the dealer didn't even notice it or mentioned it. I believe its still on Carsales.

The going rate tends to vary somewhat. One wrecker quoted $300, another sold one for $150. On ebay $150 seems to be the ball park for wheels that need a bit of rejuvenation. I know because I've been outbid on a couple of them...

A blue/black or grey/black genuine Momo steering wheel for $150? Good luck with that.

The B-Series one is about the right price.

The metallic blue P250 one is a bit worn so will not bring a lot of dollars either. They always go for well under the T-Series ones.

It is the black/grey T-Series ones that are most expensive followed by black/blue and the cheapest is usually the black/red.

It is very rare to find one these days in good condition for under $1000.

There is also a red Momo on ebay at the moment.

Maybe they aren't so rare after all? Or a lot of XR6 and XR8s are being parted out in recent times?
