Hi all I have just inherited a Ford flathead V8 truck. Not sure wheather it is a 1948 or 49. Can anyone tell me how I can tell which model it is?

I got to say I dont,

The easiest way to tell a 40-48 from a 49-53 (or 54 in Australia), is by the bell housing. The 40-48 engines had intergal bell housing, ie the bell housing was cast as part of the block and a post 49 engine has a removeable housing, much like a windsor.

It is definitely a 1949 as the bell housing is bolted on. Now can anyone tell me how to tell what F series it is?

It would be an F1 as they were 48-52 - your link doesn't work so it's just an educated guess.

My brother in law had arguments with some guys when he was trying to track down parts for his 1948 Ford sedan. The trouble was that if you call the Yanks for bits and pieces, what we called the "1948" Ford was, in America, the 1946 model.
Not sure if the same applies with trucks... |

 this was my fathers old truck. i think it was a `46` model. ((edit) after a look at google images it might be `48 -`50 model , having blinkers makes me think it would be later in the series). great looking old trucks. this another one that i seen at a farm sale. it was in pretty good order and had only run out of rego a few years ago. i think it sold for about $4000.

Looks awesome...convert the rust, seal it, do what you have to to make it roadworthy, and leave it alone. Looks like it's really lived a life.
