who to contact to check over car in melbourne?

hi,im in QLD and am looking at buying a car thats in melbourne,would really need it checked over first before buying to make sure its all good.dose anyone know who dose pre pershuse checks on cars,the cars in sunshine west vic,any help would be great.

I know RACV do checks but i dont know if you need to be a member. If you do need to be a member maybee ask someone from vic who is a member to have the check done for you and reimberse them? Check the link, might give you further info.

Also depends on the age. RACV won't check all vehicles.

I've also found the reports to be a bit general. Best to get a mechanic to look over it, might cost more, but ou won't get the 'good for a vehicle for this age and conditions' line on everything.

If the owner is serious they would let a trusted person take it to a known mechanic to get it looked over. Maybe Sab's Autos in Footscray? Even a tow there and back with the owner may cost, but will sort out it for you.
