Default Sunroof in ST

Hey all.

I've been dealing with the Ford dealer in Castle Hill, Sydney. They tell me that they use somebody in Sydney to do aftermarket sunroof installs using OEM Ford parts following the same procedure Ford follows on the assembly line.

Apparently he tells me that the factory the STs are made in do not have the facility to do the sunroof install. They are done across the road in another factory. Whether or not this is true I have no idea.

Anyone here ever had a sunroof installed? I'm always hesitant on doing them due to leaks and squeaks. I did see one they had at the dealership that was done by this guy. Other than the switch and where the dome lights get relocated to, it looked no different than from the factory. $2000 all up for the install.

Appreciate any info!

That's a load of nonsense, you can option the ST from the factory with a sunroof in every other market bar ours - not to mention the normal Focus... There is a different roof pressing used along with different roof lights/controls etc.

Ford Australia just don't give us the option of getting them from the factory.

Thanks for that. Makes sense to me. I thought it was a bit of BS.

Odd though that they had a Focus Titanium on the lot with a factory optioned sunroof, yet they don't offer it on the ST. I'd love to have one to be honest.

Search around for a competant mobile fitter. I am on Gold Coast and I found East Coast sunroofs and mine is being fitted tomorrow. 6 hour job and they come to my house. Though mine is an xr6T.

Prestige Sunroofs seem to be one of the best in Sydney. Been reccomended on AFF a few times. Wetheril Park but looks like no mobile service.

Thanks for the info! How big is the 900? Does it take up most of the roof?

I had a look at Prestige. The one in Sydney doesn't seem to be the same as the one in Melbourne. Different company.

Anyone have any recommendations for sydney based installers?

Try Webasto in Kirrawee Sth Sydney, I have had them install a sunroof into 3 different vehicles over the years and they are totally professional I had mine installed in my LVII Zetec a couple of years back and it has worked flawlessly since installation

It's a Hollandia 700 series, from memory there are 3 or 4 different sizes in the 700 series to accommodate different vehicle roof sizes. My son had one fitted into his 2011 WRX sedan and although it looks identical it is slightly wider than one in the Focus, due to the car being slightly wider. It might look huge in the pics but it's well proportioned to the size of the roof area.

Do they actually do installs out in Kirrawee? To me it looks like they're just the distributor for Hollandia. More like sales/warehouse.
