Just got my 2nd hand ford AU wagon, and love this site!! Was looking around here last night and came across reference to a steering recall on all 98 to 02 AU's.. IS this correct, and what exactly was the problem? I will have to contact Ford and see if mine has been fixed yet if so.
Thanks for the great work guys and gals!!! |

Basically the problem is a bolt in the steering rack *could* work its way out, its happened to about 5 au's in australia so ford recalled them all. The solution to this is very simple and takes a whole 2 minutes to correct. All they do is put a spot weld on the side of the thread at the end of the bolt on the drivers side, so that if it did ever work its way out, it would only be able to get a little way out and wouldn't come off the car.
Very simple procedure. Just take it to your local ford service dept and they will be able to tell you if its been done before. |
