Was hoping someone may have been in the same boat as me to know the answer to this, (tried calling the nsw police information hotline and service NSW both on hold for 45 mins so I gave up)
I have purchased my old Xr6 Sprint back from a dealer in Victoria, my plan is to fly down and drive it back. The dealer is organising a unregistered permit for me to drive it. What I need clarity on is, is the Victorian permit enough for me to drive it home on seeing I live in Sydney's western suburbs? Or do I also need another permit from service NSW for the NSW side of things? Hopefully that made sense. Cheers in advance! |

Have driven a couple of cars up to Queensland from Melbourne for family on permits, was checked out at an RBT in Moree on one trip, no issues after they saw the permit on the windscreen.

Keep your papers in easy/obvious reach.
I once had a couple of “twitchy” VicPol officers start to have a go about no number plates, I stood back and said “The paperwork’s in the glovebox”. A half second later one of them observed the permit details were [I]also[/] stuck to the windscreen (NSW permit, but I’d do the same with a Vic print-out). Shannon’s have never had an issue with a rego TBA for me. The VIN was good enough, I think the cancelled rego filled the required field and the UVP process noted on vehicle details. |

Had to bring a brand new Hino tilt tray back from QLD, needed a permit for each state we went through, dont know if its any different for a car
|

Yes, I've done this several times delivering cars interstate.
The NSW permit is valid in both Vic & Qld as long as you are driving directly to your destination as stated on the permit. Dr Terry |
