Well two things to consider with our SOHC sixes.

Firstly valve springs and secondly hydraulic lifters. Then how high do you want to rev it? How well balanced is your bottom end?

EA-EL and stock and XR6 springs apparently all the same even thought the XR6 are red in colour. AU have the really weak spiral low fiction ones.

I think the stock springs are good for 0.480-0.500" lift max. I have the HD springs in mine with 0.525 lift and its fine to rev right out to 5900 on my diagnostic tune up tach and hold it there no fluttering nothin! Yes if my tach (and i don't mean the one next to the speedo) is right I get 5900rpm cut out in my AU.

The lifters will be the next issue "pumping up" at 6500rpm.

I beklieve the bottom ends are only really OK to this RPM anyway and the piston speeds are very high with the 4 Litre bore and stroke by 5500rpm anyway.

Are there any other places that supply the springs besides JMM. How much will they cost?
