Default went for a service on tursday

at bryan burt ford mansfield, brisbane
it was the night team (i dislike the night team)

this is the list of rubbish they gave me and said needs to be done..

LHR Tyre has nail in sidewall (hehe, getting 20' soon)
High pressure power stearing hose leaking
Brake fluid change
thermostate oring
radiator cap (pffft)
base idel sett and pcm upgrades (upgrades i can understand)
major handbrake (considering i have never used it)
wiper inserts (sif use wipers)
engine mounts (said where carroded $900 to fix)
engine reseal-leaks oil
oil pressure switch
RHR outer control arm bushe-irs
RHR 1/4 glass mould (told me to paint the inside black so it looks liek the inside rubber...)
RHF door trim bowed (cant fix must replace)
Sunviser bulbs blown lh&rh (ill replace these)
oil leak at diff. (shall i get lsd?)

it was $169 for used car warrenty service. over the phone i added it up to be around $2500 to fix the other things i have listed.

i just got the service done and the isc valved cleaned.

maybe cus im young the said to themselves (lets rip this kid off)

i might have to find another mechanic..

ur thoughts?

My thoughts:

LHR Tyre has nail in sidewall (hehe, getting 20' soon) - ignore
High pressure power stearing hose leaking - should get this fixed (<$200)
Brake fluid change - should be done every 2 years ($80)
thermostate oring - worth doing if it's leaking (cheap <$60)
radiator cap (pffft) - worth doing if it's leaking (cheap <$20)
base idel sett and pcm upgrades (upgrades i can understand) - might as well should be free or <$50
major handbrake (considering i have never used it) - interesting!
wiper inserts (sif use wipers) - should repalce if they are worn, because you WILL need them one day (<$20)
engine mounts (said where carroded $900 to fix) - I'd get second opinion
engine reseal-leaks oil - common issue, if it's not too bad, leave it (Big $$$)
oil pressure switch - if it doesn't work, you should replace it (<$100) unless you don't care if your low oil warning light works, but with the leaks you have, I'd replace this at least
RHR outer control arm bushe-irs - get suspension place to confirm
RHR 1/4 glass mould (told me to paint the inside black so it looks liek the inside rubber...) - ignore unless leaking
RHF door trim bowed (cant fix must replace) - ignore unless leaking
Sunviser bulbs blown lh&rh (ill replace these) - whooppee
oil leak at diff. (shall i get lsd?) - tighten bolts and change diff oil (<$100)

They are all issues, so Ford have done the right thing telling you about them. Imagine if they didn't tell you and one or more issues caused a fatal accident - they would be responsible and could be sued. By telling you, and you choosing to ignore the issues, then you take the responsibility.

When I used to service my car at ford, they let me know about every little thing that was wrong with my car and asked if I wanted it to get fixed. I usually declined as it was cheaper to get it done by myself or somewhere else. But it is good to know that they go over your car and check everything.

Also they updated my ECU for free so I don't know why they would charge you for it.

I took my car to ford in penrith once... never going back there again... 1300 for the service! On the transmission service they failed to put enough oil in the gearbox causing clunky shifts (I took it to another mechanic to fix), they fixed my rough idle with an 'injector service' big cost no result still rough idle. So yeah stay away from ford for service.

Bryan Byrt are Rip offs.

Go to Q FORD springwood.

I must say this just reminded me why i never keep cars long term, they get bloody expensive to repair (remember the days of our EL ghia).

If you put you car in for a service and the techs did not report your problems you would accuse them of not checking your car properly, be thankful they at least checked your car.

you will find the test drive thing happens at many places, little places too,.....as far as your rotors went, you`ll find that some mechanics have a different perspective on what needs attention and what does`nt.

I used to work for a ford dealer in the service department, i wouldn't take my car to them to get serviced. They're so expensive imo...

I normally ask what time my car will be rady to be picked up then rock up 15mins or so early. 90% of the time they head out to test drive under 5mins from when I get there, I just stand out the front having a smoke and eyeball them as they drive out ;)

I was in the waiting room at Ford dealer in Frankston when I heard a car take off with a screech of tyres.
I went out to have a look and seen my car heading off down the road ( the only car in sight ). Wasn't happy as I don't drive it like that and wouldn't expect others to either.
I haven't been back since.
Note Traction control was off as was switched to gas.

I sure hope you let the dealer know you werent happy with the situation. I'd make myself very clear.
