Default 11.5L per 100km.

Not bad I think for a fairmont Ghia VCT 6 on a trip including some suburban driving.

That's pretty good. I've had 9 from Melbourne to Canberra, and 9.8 in the wagon, on a trip to Ulladulla from Canberra and return - that's up and down the mountain, driving around Ulladulla and back up and down the mountain. The highway cruising on the AUs is pretty good - but I still get around 14l/100km around town. Doesn't seem to matter if it's me or the missus driving (if it's me it closer to 15).

I live in Portarlington, and work in Geelong. It's about 35km to work each way. I've only had my AU for a few weeks, but the first tank I got 9.6l/100km. I didn't take the reading for the second tank, and I filled my 3rd tank this morning. This 3rd tank worked out at 10.5l/100km. I'm pretty happy! The 3rd tank included a trip to Melbourne airport and back, plus a fair few short runs around Geelong.

The L/per 100kms was dropping all the time ie the further we travelled. If we had been on a longer trip Iam sure we would have done 9.5L

Just did a quick consumption check on my EF wagon & it got exactly the same as your AU. I would have thought the AU would be better than an EF.
Now if only I could get my 79 LTD better. It uses 28 litres/100km & that's taking it easy on a long trip!

Petrol Clevo 351, small Heatseeker cam, Holley 750vac & extractors + 2 1/2" exhaust. Gets about 10 to 12 miles per gallon in the old measurements, about average for a 351. It's off the road now getting some major mods but last time I drove it I gave it a bit of a hard time (actually, a pretty hard time!) on the highway & it used 75 litres on a 200 km trip.

Gotta luv the torque of an old-school V8.

I bet you're enjoying the 8 though, shame it wasn't a 5.0 Windsor though! LOL! Glad it's you paying the fuel bill.

Hate to disappoint you but the 1745kg + hard cover 5.6 stroker just returned 10.1 L/100km on trip with a S**t load of gear in it and constantly gives me 12.5 at home
But I also drive like an old woman most of the time.

I wouldn't want to even look at what my S3 XR8 does!!!! But on a longer trip given the figure continually dropping that Fairmont Ghia of hers would probably have got in the low 9's.

Luckily for me its not my daily driver, I use it more as a weekend toy, but geez she can drink! My parents own my AU now, that car is a gem, uses bugger all fuel and still goes hard.

I know you say you dont wanna look... but I wanna know! It was VT GTS vs AU3 XR8 for me, was soooo hard to decide which one. Curious as to what sort of mileage you get out of your S3 XR8 though, coz the 5.7 holden stroker drinks like a wharfy....

The S3 XR8 should be around 16l/100km around town, and somewhere around 10 on the highway.

I managed to get from Adelaide to Melbourne in 1 tank in my AU1 XR6 (Manual) three up with luggage. Did the same on the return trip. Worked out to 7.8L/100 for the return trip (which included a bit of driving around Melbourne). Around town more like 12L/100

Agreed. I get about 10 on the highway, 18-20 around Sydney.

Going LPG in November.....

In the meantime, I'm changing the 02 sensors next week, see if that makes a difference. The tailpipe is pretty black, and I'm guessing I'm running a bit rich.
