the top one, is off a fairmont ghia/Fairlane/LTD

the lower is just a standard T-bar surround piece, with the chrome piece off the above model fitted.

the chrome surround is worth $13 from Ford Brand New.

Would be nice if ford actually made a woodgrain effect that actually looked like woodgrain !, imo their woodgrain finish looks like brown marble kitchen benchtop finish ! .

I got a couple of part prices from ford the other day, inner chrome surround, and outer chrome surround. The inner one was $13 and the outer was around $90. What part is the outer surround?

No XR's came out with the chrome inner , and the part for an XR in chrome isn't available as far as im aware.

If you wwant a chrome inner in your XR , then you either need to get your old inner chromed , or , buy a new chrome fairmont inner and outer & button / you need the outer as well due to the button.

You could wire the button up to use it for something else , or rumor has it that the loom maybe still in the xr's so you can use the button to change between 2 of the power modes anyway ( as the xr has 3 modes and the others ony have 2 modes ) .

If memory serves it is the main housing underneath the chrome surround.

Do you need this part as well, or does the inner housing fit straight in?
