Hi , I am a "newby" to the FFM site , but a real old Ford man , through and through.
My question is , can any person tell me how I get the belts OFF and ON my XG 95 xg ute , I have to replace the Alternator-- water pump belt, So, to do this the Power steering belt has to be taken Off first , there seems to be no adjustment ( that I can tell) where by I can remove the said belt, does the Idler have any adjustment? If you can give me the correct procedure for this R & R , it would be appreciated.
Thanks Alan..

Gasolane, Hi I have replaced the belts , Now - They squeak rather badly , I was told that it is caused by the Fact , that the belts should be tighter, Would this be the case ?
Thanks Alan...

Quite possible Alan, mine used to on the XG (but only just after startup) until they were tightened.

I have tightened them , but I must have not done the belts up far enough, before the alternator/water pump snapped it to only made a small squealing noise on start-up , and then only for about 6--10 seconds. I will go back to-morrow and try tightening the 2 belts . ( P/S and Alt/W.P) then Test Run it again.
Thanks heaps, Alan.

Hey guys,

Just joined after purchasing my first Ford in about 10 years.

I had previously owned an EF II XR-6 and I loved it to death. In the end it had a few paint issues and ended up selling it, and I moved to motorbikes. First I had a Kawasaki ZZR250, that got written off, so I grabed a Honda CB 250F (great bike) which got stolen. Then I bought a Ducati Monster 400, was an average bike. Then I moved over to a DRZ400SM which was FUN. Then I forked out $20000 and bought a KTM Superduke 990R. I kept that for ages and then decided to move back to cars with the family growing.

I ended up buying a 2002 Toyota Caldina. Not a bad car, but everything was in Japanese. I sold it and got just a zip around, then forked out and bought a brand new 2012 Crysler 300C. Great car, but I really wanted an FG X.

So I bought one. I grabbed an XR6 Turbo, which is expected to be delivered in May. Back ages, when I was in my teens still, I frequented VL Calais forums (I know huh) and loved cruises and such, and was looking to join a community, and well, here I am.

Hi Fordies,
I am in Central West NSW and am looking for a project 70's or early 80's F100. Any tips and advice on what to look out for would be great, ie models, engines etc.

Hi, to all members ,
Yes my 1st car( in 1961) was a 1938 Ford V8 De-Luxe Coupe, the very last model Ford to be fitted with cable brakes, ( should have got a 39 ).
Also owned a 1936 ford V8 coupe convertible, with "dicky"seat.
Have had a 48 Ford V8 4dr.
XM s/w, XP 2 door, 2 XB s/wagons, the 302 had a "Sovereign tailgate".
XD ute with 302, XE Ghia, and now a XG ute, and this was the ute with the squealing belts, all good now !
Take care ,catch you all later.. Alan..

Hi folks.
Yeah, I luv my fords. The cars I have or have owned are xd s pack ute, xe s pack wagon, ke laser tx3, eb s pack, landau (my favourite), au11 sr , au11 ute & sy territory awd. I must say I am extremely disappointed about the demise of the legendary falcon. I don't mind playing around with my cars as I am a mechanic, so I might be able to offer advice at times.
Cheers, and happy motoring.

Hi, just wanting to know if and how to convert my 1978 F100 4x4 manual to electric speedo.
I am going to fit a full instrument dash out of a Falcon into it. I don't really want to attach anything to my tail shaft. Would prefer to fit electric pulse sensor drive to the gearbox. I am a fitter machinist by trade so modifying one doesn't faze me.

Hi to all, I got my first ford in Feb a G6 falcon 50th anniversary and it's been great so far. Previous daily was a jeep so always been interested in a falcon mainly because of a 4.0 I6 layout in a sedan! cheers

Hi there, I am new to this forum so thought I better introduce myself. Been around cars all my life, my dad and uncles are hot rodders so I have grown up with all sorts of builds on the go.

I have a 1965 Galaxie 500 Wagon which I have had since I was 17 but haven't been able to fund the full build it needs yet. I bought my XM Panelvan last year to be a bit of a rat rod, she's in good condition with minimal rust. I just bought a 200 which is waiting to be slotted in to get her on the road. I also have some modern fords being an FG XR6 and have just ordered my FG X XR8.

My main reason for joining this forum is to read other peoples experiences and also get some advice.

I have a centura diff, 200B steering box etc but am also wanting to run 5 stud front end with disc brakes. What is the best option to do this? I have been told XR or 66 Mustang can work.

Thanks in advance :-)

Hi all
I have just bought a Ford Territory SY 2008 and it needs an oxygen sensor according to the RACQ mechanic. I want to put it in myself, can anyone give me any advise or tips please?

I'm 72 years young and my wife and I intend to do the grey nomad thing around Australia towing a 17foot Viscount caravan.
Great forum and looking forward to many reads and posts.
Cheers
Keith
PS I live at Bowen QLD and intend to start southward.

Thumbs up Re: Welcome to New Members - Post here to say gday!

Hi good Buddy
Thanks for the quick response. Yep I think it's a job for my local mechanic when the sensor arrives. Ford quoted $220 for the sensor alone while I bought one from Engine Sensors on line @ $74 incl. postage. My Territory has done 159000 and it does not have all the trimmings of a Ghia but that's OK. I'm only 5ft9ins and have a lot of trouble getting in and out of it without hitting my head; either the seat is too high or the roof too low???
Cheers
Keith
