Observing a couple of motorcyclists southbound on Pennant Hills Rd this afternoon.

Riding together, the more experienced one was bringing up the rear - although both were acting sensibly. Two things struck me, first the tailgunner’s fluidity of riding - it was like watching larger birds soar and sweep with their graceful economy of flight. The other thing - we were travelling into the sun, visibility wasn’t ideal. So the rearguard was also carefully varying his position within the lane, creating movements that less attentive motorists would hopefully observe. That’s looking after yourself, and looking out for a mate; impressive.

With 70% of the staff off with Covid, the decision was made today to postpone the Christmas get together.....................which means that it will get forgotten about and never happen.

That made me feel good today!

That's good work and also good you noticed...

The trick is to take up the entire lane without slipstreaming into the leader's braking area or losing the sightline forward

My heavily pruned rhododendrons are budding up nicely, despite cutting them way late. The Tahitian lime is similarly responding well, holding a good (but sensible) number of its young fruit - just need to keep the water up. Weather has definitely been in my favour by not “twanging” into a succession of scorching hot days.

First day of leave and don't go back to the 12th. My last day was originally going to be next Tuesday but I brought it forward since it has been pretty quiet for last couple of weeks.

I hesitated in taking yesterday off too but in the end decided to WFH. Wrong decision, I got absolutely smashed with problems but sorted them all or at least understood them enough to make it a 2023 problem.

So have 4 weeks off with a relatively clean slate in the end

Massive LPG backfire ruined the idle on petrol and was just plain ugly on gas.
New gasket in place of the junked one and all better.
And if you need to test drive you may as well head to the beach.

Nearly two years since I started this project after turning the first sod of... well you can't call what I dug up soil.... clay, I finally got my letterbox installed yesterday.

Not finished yet, as I will make a walking base around the letterbox with the left over sleepers and offcuts, but at least the parcel box is functional and the address plate is up

In a day of mowing pretty much ruined by persistently angry bees, I took time out to rake/sweep my good neighbour’s kerb and streetfront. It looked really nice afterwards, obviously not just to me as some random motorist decided it was the best place to park.

We just received a text from our son.
He is in town for their cricket grand final.
They won! , and he hit 50.
Super stoked for him.
You wonder why we are not there? He doesnt like us being there! Saw nearly every juniors match he ever played, but now he is playing with adults its off limits. We sneak to the oval sometimes and watch from a distance but tonight we had lots to do so all good.
Some matches have live scoring online too which is nice.
Anyway, great text to receive!

Why go fine dining when you can rock up to the drive through and sit and eat plastic food out of paper bag in a flash German car.

I've driven around Australia a few times with the caravan, and I said to my missus the Ghan will be added to our bucket list. Will certainly be different but I think it will be well worth the experience.
Cheers.

Today I donated $100.00 to the Hahndorf Interim Animal Shelter, here in the Adelaide Hills, I do this twice a year to help them out a bit.

The shelter is where I adopted my cat Simba, back in January 2016, when he was a 14 week old Kitten. I have kept in touch with them since I adopted Simba, and do all I can to help them.

The Hahndorf Animal Shelter is a no kill shelter, all cats and dogs are kept for as long as it takes to find a new home. No animal is ever put to sleep because it has taken a long time for it to be adopted. The people at the shelter are incredibly nice, and are dedicated to improving the lives of the many cats and dogs they care for each year.

That made me feel good today.
