Haven't you found the same with your Holden dealer?
All dealers upsell products and services regardless of brand. You'd be kidding yourself to imply that it is only limited to Holden. Besides, they are not putting a gun to your head and forcing you to pay for these things. If you don't want them you can simply decline.
My comments were based more on quality of workmanship and customer service, and you only have to look at the mountains of pages of horror stories on this very forum to see just how dismal Ford dealers are in this area.

I realise they all upsell, what I'm getting at is that the Holden dealerships I've dealt with in the past don't seem to take no for an answer. At ford, you'll be asked about it, you say no and they move on.
At Holden, there's a lot of secondary recommendations once you say no such as; "If you don't it might void your warranty".
That's excessive pressure that your average cruze buyer doesn't need.

As for here being a place for dealership gripes, well that's got to be taken into context. Almost every second topic in these forums is on how people have modified their cars to get more power etc, and then there's a whinge about how a dealer wouldn't honour their warranty on the diff bushes or trans etc etc. Every car company is treating warranty claims suspiciously, some going so far as to having dealership and company reps going out to the dragstrip to see who's racing their car down the quarter mile.
If you look at LS1 you'll see there's dealership gripes as well.
