I was talking to the gentleman that manages the BP around the corner from work and he said expect ULP to be $1.60 a litre by Xmas :( its only $1.30 now so it is going to spike another 30 cents over the next 3 months....

It is only internet hearsay but i've known him for 5 years and he has never forewarned me about an increase like that before.. He also said he had lost 3 casual night shift workers in the last fortnight due to them not being able to cope with the aggressive customers.

North Shore of Sydney was bollocks last night as I filled up on Sloptimax at the festive rate of $1.49/L. Christmas certainly has come early for the oil companies!

Might be worth my while to hold onto the big 351, at this rate it will be more economical to run that on LPG than to run the Datsun on Premium! :

Luckily where I fill up they got rid of their old 'LRP fuel and switched to ULP and Premium about 3 weeks ago. Its quite funny because this is a farmers co-op store, they basically sell the fuel at cost plus maybe a cent to cover costs. They only put up the prices when the tanks are refilled. PULP was $1.274/l and ULP $1.269/l So for once in a long time I am using PULP.

The reason for that is that they sell 20x more ULP and the price rise in that time has nearly overtaken what the cost of PULP was.

Its not right that you or your boss cops it, you are not causing the problem (actually what is causing the problem is it just OPEC?? - was watching a show the other day on Dubai saying how most of there wealth comes from oil, but they are running low and trying to convert to tourism for there next major revenue earner - unsure how much truth is in that but maybe they are trying to grab what they can while they can??)

Yeah, I'm glad I no longer work in a servo, I had enough people get agro and take it out on me when the price went over $1 per litre, I hate to think how ago those same people are getting now...

Default Its a Joke.

With Oil stock prices dropping rapidly someoe is making a buck. :thebirds: Sunshine Coast QLD prices are 138.9 Ultimate 128.9 Premium 124.9 Unleaded? I usually run Ultimate but instead grabbed a tank of premium for 10c a litre cheaper and put in a bottle of Octane boost. In hindsight probably didnt save any money and just should of grabbed Ultimate as I usually do. Its time for an LPG Conversion I think?

-Dave-
I think its confirmed that excise will be gradually introduced. 12.5c/L by 2012 or something.

Fuel of 21st century. When oil runs out, LPG (as we know it today) follows suit!

I tell ya what tho, Im usually a proponent of letting the market sort itself out and that we should pay what we have to pay - but with oil coming off to $65/bl and AUD gaining ground against USD, by all means the refined product should be cheaper. I think the petrol suppliers are really testing us at the moment.

Price just went up again over here, with ULP at $1.56 and PULP $1.61 nationwide.

Yeah but indirectly you will be.

To give you an example of my situation.

I am a farmer, I work for a share. Although many of the things I am not responsible for as part of my agreement.

The tanker to pick up the milk - currently we pay 2.7c/l supplied as transport costs. Its not an actual charge but its just money we don't see in the milk price.

The guy who delivers hay - he needs to put up his per km charge

The contractor who cut and baled that hay needs to cover his fuel costs

The grain company has to raise its charge to run its trucks

The stock carriers - their per unit charge has risen a couple of bucks each time we've used them in the last few months

The vet/sparky/dairy plant tech's callout fee's rise.

The machinary on the farm is a direct cost.

Everyone will ultimatly be affected by the fuel price.

How long do you think it'll be before the price of lpg goes up?
Doesnt it all come from the same place?

I'm thankful at the moment I have a work ute with a company motorpass that covers fuel...if I were still driving my ute to work and 500km+ a week bills would be getting very hard to pay

I'm not too worried about the cost of petrol, though it was funny the other day when i put $60 in, the servo attendant pointed out the $5.60 of that was GST. :

Its sad, but for all the ing and whining, what can you do about it?

I just got an email about not putting any petrol in anything on the 10th of Sep, (this saturday) and how the petrol companies will choke on their own reserves if we do. I cant see it happening, i mean, who is going to not put petrol in their car? what are you going to do instead, catch a bus. what a joke.

we need petrol, and you need to pay for it. I use it as a conversation/argument starter on Sunday nights, then leave the table to go do something else.

I get one of these every time there's a price hike. Problem is, if people actually did it, all it would acheive is bigger queues to fill up the next day.
