well see how it goes, theres been a development, well sort of...
where i parked the car, theres an embankment down to the main road... apparently my dad found a mattress and some bags etc in there, along with a whole heap of different business cards, belongings etc... its surrounded by bushes, as its an estate im sure you all know what it looks like...
the little ..... have been hiding in there... so im going to continually go around to my parents house, more than usual, in the hope that someone is in there...
then well see what type of mood im in...
a bit better now that the window is fixed, for 60 bucks i got a new glass, theyre the same as an au, and fitted it at work today... and rang the police and told them to add onto the report th serial number of the gps...
least to say if i find them ill give them some reasons not to do it again...within the law though, as i dont want to wind up worse off just for teaching them a lesson...

goddamn scum....I had 2 of my cars windows smashed one night, and there was about 20 others that were hit in the same neighbourhood...

funnily enough, they only hit the cars that seemed to be *young peoples* cars (ie: they got my Alfa, my 1987 BMW 535i, but not my 05 xr6t, mums 04 prado, or dads 99 rodeo).

Never did hear anything back from the police...

Although I did say that I sympathize with this person’s loss and subsequent damage to his vehicle, the point I was making was to why he’d leave a hundred dollars in cash and a GPS unit in his car at all.

If you're going to leave a bracket stuck to you bloody windscreen, you may as well have a neon sign on the roof telling everyone what he’s got inside of it.

I wouldn’t care if the GPS was the size of a house brick. There’s no way I’d leave anything in any car or truck of mine worth that much.

I’d love to leave my keys, wallet, cameras and mobile phone in my car because I find it inconvenient to carry such things, but I can’t.

Do you lock your big Territory up at night or leave the keys in it and hope that it will be there in the morning?

I see a lot of cars with GPS and they just leave it there,
when they park their car and not hide it at all.

It would be a pain to take it out and put it back
and do that a few times a day.

In a few more years GPS will be standard in all cars,
like airbags & ABS.

Sorry to hear mate. Mongrels are a dime a dozen these days. I wont even leave a packet of cigarettes in the centre console anymore. Some smack head would likely smash a window for a smoke.

My how we have changed. Gone are the days of coming out to find my fathers xb gt on bricks (80's) Now they just smash and take stuff for the hell of it

still bits and pieces are better than the whole car going

yeah i suppose the car is still there... at least it wasnt the xe...
as said before in a year or two majority of new cars will have the full screen diap[lsy lie the fords and have satnav built in... i think it should also be a way of tracking the car if its flogged aswell...
not going to leave things in the car anymore... its a bit like people having stickers of sound system brands on their windows etc, or blaring it all the time, its just asking it to be flogged...

Did you get the car fingerprinted?

My mum got her car broken into about 6 months ago. Cops came, fingerprinted and got the guy and have charged him with multiple break in's. (4 cars were done on my street alone in 1 night. Many other streets were done.)

man this sucks the big one.

it's something that i worry about constanty. i thought about alarms and mods to make it harder to break into my car, but unfortunantly as you've found they can always just smash the windows...and alarms seem to have little effect nowdays.

i think your best bet is to limit the desire to get into your car, don't display valuables of any sort, try to park in an area with good visability and try to avoid upsetting random members of the public.

in the end though it's the society we live in nowdays, if you own something nice its like a neon sign to scumbags.

when i rang the poice they said they have no cars available for a couple of hours...
i wasnt waiting for hours just so they could come and tell me theres nothing they can do...
but if i took justice into myown hands when i found them theyd be straight out...
its true about the society, i almost feel sorry for my kids in a way having to grow up into this world...
and i think it will only get worse before it gets better... if it gets better...

and also as pointed out alarms are just useless, theyre basically a notifier once your property has been tampered with, not a deterrent, once you hear it you know something has already happened, by the time you get out there theyll be gone and so will your possessions... noone thinks about acting on it becasue theyre afraid of the consequences of their own actions when they were trying to help... you dont know what they may do to you these days...

Could you claim the contents on insurance? I know some car insurance companies you can do that if your car is damaged or in an accident- the contents can also be replaced.
