That, Jabba, is because no-one in their right mind would take a look at you and harrass you. :

Mind you, when they are in groups no one is safe, everyone should display at least some caution.

Agreed.

I think that some people may be talking up the "roughness" of the coast a bit.

Truth be told, it is probabarly one of the safest large citys/areas in Australia.
I have NEVER had a problem at any place or time of the year.

Anything that happens here is completly normal for a city of 450,000 odd people. People are generally laid back, there are no real organised 'gangs' or anything like that, that citys are known for.

Schoolies week is relitively isolated to the coastal 'glitter strip'.
Sure, people get hurt and fights break out. But what else would you expect of 20,000 ****ed 17 year olds? It only really lasts a week anyway. The other 2 weeks are not anywhere near as bad.

my 2 cents

Mike

Many thanks for all this Bill R. I used to use the New England going to Brisbane but going down to the GC it is 100 km longer so I guess its a no-brainer in favour of the Pacific.

If you're talking about the Gateway, it's $2.50 each time you go through.

Glad you had a great time..
Yes Australia Zoo is certainly worth the entry fee .. so much to see there..
Seaworld is usually awesome, but I guess if that storm came over that would have killed the fun a bit..

Glad you got home safe and sound again too...

I too am glad that you enjoyed your time on the coast and i must say, despite all my warnings about Southport, you went there anyway!! :
Nah, its a good place.

My sister's formal was at the GCI on Thursday night, that is a popular hotel to hold it at. Aus Zoo is excellent, so many animals, shows and interesting things to see and learn. Hope you come back down here sometime, to enjoy more of the GC. So did you go to Dracula's?

PS doesnt the coast look great from that photo you took at Q1!
