A Ford dealer told me that there are only 'minor' differences on the outside of the car (between BA & BF), really nothing at all.

Put simply...

The center of the BA front bars look like the car is smiling at u...

BA SR

The center of the BF front bars look angry and are frowning at u...

BF Fairmont

hope this helps... was trying to think of the stupidist and easiest way to differentiate the two cars...

Not all BA's are like that...I think that is just on the SR.
XT and Futura's at least are black all the way across the bottom grille, with a 'happy face'.
You can sort of see what I mean in my avatar.

Haha, I'm still suprised Ford called the series the BF, considering BF is txt short for Boyfriend. "Hey, wanna come for a ride in my BF" for instance could mean two seperate things :

Maybe they will bring out a Heath Ledger or Peter Allan edition.

Well you are right about saving on BA's i just purchased a MENACE XR8 MKII 6 speed manual Ute For $36,191 on road with prestige sound six stacker and XR leather interior (NOT A DEMO EITHER), Man there was heaps of haggling involved but hey thats what it comes down to.You either move it or let it depreciate in the yard.
