If you add up the total sales in groups of companies I wonder how ford is going, ie, Ford plus volvo plus maybe 30%? of mazda. They dont own Land rover, Aston Martin or Jag anymore.

Toyota has lexus

Holden has hummer, saab, isuzu

Hyundai has Kia

Citroen has Peugeot

Fiat has chrysler

Porsche now has volkswagan and Audi, lambo, skoda, I think?!

hmm, its interesting.

Ford has 10% of Mazda, Volvo is getting sold. VW & Porsche aren't together as the merger failed. Saab is also gone from GM.

I think vw and porsche are together, its failed as a group now and needs more cash together to keep going. Porsche didnt fail on their own they borrowed to get VW and did, but have now have made the group need cash. They didnt give VW back and somehow now owe billions for nothing.

Holden don't have Isuzu. Independent franchises since GM canceled their agreement with Isuzu, which is why we now have 2 badges on the same car. The Holden Colorado / Isuzu DMax.

Not quite.

It's now more of a merger than a takeover. Last I heard, they've actually had to sell some 20% of VW to some middle eastern consortium for an injection of funds.

Actually having another look. The both own stakes in each other. Porsche tried increasing their share to 75% and put themselves into the poo. So now they have gone to the Arabs to get money and the Arabs are trying to work who they want to have a share off (VW or Porsche). Wont find out till the end of July how the structure will go.

The interesting thing, at least for me, is why haven't Isuzu used the Rodeo name? They own the rights to it, and Rodeo has a huge following.

GT69 is correct. Ssangyong is actually owned by SAIC.

This month will be interesting. Ford have had to make ~750 more cars this month, just to keep up with demand, and seem to be taking the down days out of July's production as well. Hopefully, this can eventually result in an increased line rate.

Top Australian Vehicles June 2009

Vehicle - Sales
1. Toyota HiLux - 4756
2. Holden Commodore - 4748
3. Toyota Corolla - 4066
4. Mazda 3 - 3741
5. Ford Falcon - 3410
6. Mitsubishi Triton - 3043
7. Hyundai i30 - 2742
8. Nissan Navara - 2568
9. Hyundai Getz - 2263
10. Toyota Yaris - 2194

Amazing off-road ute sales and Sportwagon sales (outsold every SUV again). Lucky Ford got rid of the RTV and didnt update the wagon...

I remember reading that Ford had stock issues with Falcon so it will be interesting to see if they have a few orders up their sleeve.

No Camry/Aurion in sight. There is a God.

Yeh, and they coulda sold another 500+ sedans / utes if they actually built enough... The demand for XR6's in both sedan and ute was huge! Good work Ford... not... As for orders, anyone who diddnt get before 30th of june woulda cancelled if they wanted the tax bonus, they wont bother with it now till dec!

Alot of Holdens stock was 2008 plate cars, Ford dont have any 2008 plate stock, so i guess when you look at it Ford are still probably better positioned without the finance costs of old stock, but figures always shine dont they..

Mazda 3 = meh!

I was of the opinion that the Navara is a better vehicle than the Hilux........? Why such a massive sales disparity?

Toyota > Nissan...

Most of the construction industry run Hilux's!! How many work sites on the side of the road do you see Navaras?

Interestingly, in this segment, Holden’s Barina with 903 sales for June, is still out-selling the brilliant Fiesta with 753 sales (what’s going on there?). Encouragingly for Ford, the Fiesta was up 33.7 percent against June 2008 sales, and up 12.6 percent YTD.

Not doing so well is the medium car market where Camry, Mazda6 and Accord Euro reside.

In this segment, the excellent Mondeo must be perplexing Ford with just 356 sales and down 20.4 percent YTD. (Ford, here’s a bit of gratuitous advice… it’s a marketing problem, the car is a cracker.) The Epica for Holden has stiffed with just 195 sales, down 6.5 percent YTD.
Ford, start some more marketing!

Thanks for that info Barraxr8. The last i read it was between 200-220 units a day. At the 260 daily rate, then 6000 is a possible monthly build rate.

That could consist of
3500 Falcon sedans & wagons.
1250 Falcon Ute
1250 Territory

The other is that Ford NZ sells the Falcon at about 100-200 a month too.

PS Hope these improved sales continue. Now to improve the Euro designed stuff.

Brand loyalty is the reason for Hiluxs sales, and the fact that they have the greater supply network.
Reliablity of the current model Hiluxs are pretty woeful to be honest.

...when you add up the numbers, Ford is only 400 units behind holden for Aussie made vehicles and both are way ahead of Toyota. (6570 Holden, 6162 Ford, 4666 Toyota). That's if the Kluger is made here- i'm not sure.
