when you start to look around at other figures, like excess deaths compared to previous baselines, it paints a different picture to the one the america haters/bashers like to paint. Its easy to say trump has done nothing, but pray tell what scott morrison did for the victorian outbreak, or the recent outbreak (technically not an outbreak by definition) here? The states here are handled by their own govts. I have no idea how america is run but pretty sure trump isn't in charge of handling much at all. Like any govt, he is just the mouthpiece that goes on tv. I'm no trump supporter or apologist. i just don't care. it bugs me that he and his country get so much airtime on our little island when there are much bigger issues out there.

Nothing really that important, i guess he could have flown down and inserted a swab up my nose but i can forgive him for the latter for providing the former. For the record im not a Trump basher either, nor could i care, i do enjoy the fact that his existence ****es off millions though. I just think he messed up bigtime over Covid and is too stubborn to admit it but thats politics, just a shame average Joe pays the price. Last edited by BENT_8; 21-11-2020 at 03:28 PM. |

I'm not even commenting on the US situation.
I simply stated you pay a levy for Australian medical, its not free despite what people tell you. Yes we have a great system but its not totally free.

Ok Got it I like how you think......when I pay council rates, and the sods charge me a $25 a quarter tree service charge so really I'm not paying any tree service charge because it is simply rates.

Tell me then, if joe bloggs doesnt have a job for 12 months, pays no tax and therefore no medicare levy, i guess he cant go to the doctor coz he didnt pay the medicare levy. I pay a ****load in rego fee's but my roads are still ****. Govco distributes revenue as it see's fit, some provide for the health of their citizens, some for the bullets they fire at others. |

Less than half of the population pay any tax at all. About a quarter of people who earn an income pay no tax at all.
So for some people it is absolutely free, paid for by other people.

Well those numbers were in the ATO report for 2017/18, would not have changed too much.

Quite a few positive updates for Victoria this morning, but primarily, I am so happy to be rid of face masks in outdoor spaces coming into this warmer weather.

Well lets get back on track then.
I see Sweden has totally capitulated on the Herd Immunity thing. 1 in 5 infected and death rates mounting. Glad I went there before all of this because now, knowing how stupid they are and how little they value life, I won't ever bother going back. Yep, the last few people alive after all this is over might be immune... knuckleheads Sweden’s herd immunity strategy has failed, hospitals inundated https://www.news.com.au/world/europe...a1d38548eabff9 |

Data valid as at 23:59 GMT November 20th, 2020.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 16 new cases for Australia and no deaths so the CMR drops to 3.262% while active cases rise to 1,378. NSW recorded 10 cases, Queensland 2 and SA/WA recorded 1 each. 6 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.238% and active cases rise to 42. The UK had a lower 19,875 cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore the CMR but even using their method they recorded 340 deaths. Just over 204.5k new cases in the USA yesterday (a new record high) and 1,997 deaths sees CMR drop to 2.120% and active cases rise to 38.3% with the raw numbers rising and now over 4.7M. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global cases pass 58M, the last 1M taking 2 days; Global cases set a new daily high of 662,957 (20/11) North America sets a new daily high for cases with 217,800 (20/11); The USA completes 178M, India 130M, Italy 20M, Turkey 17M, Colombia 6M, Chile 5M and Slovakia 1M tests. Finland (469); Latvia (642); Belarus (1,588); Palestine (1,486); Japan (2,398); Croatia (3,573) - 10% above the previous high; Georgia (3,824); Ukraine (14,580); Russia (24,822); and the USA (204,577) ... all recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive days.

Came out of the press conference this morning. You are still required to carry one and use it for indoor public places or outdoors if you can't social distance.
Most of the other changes have already been announced.

I found the information most readily by “mining” the ABC news live updates. Actually surprised me it wasn’t pinned, considering how significant some of it is.
Will the sausage/onion bit be enforced by VicPol? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-11-...anges/12907456 Last edited by Citroënbender; 22-11-2020 at 12:41 PM. |

The likely hood of the '2020' summer Olympics taking place as planned is reducing fast.
Japan currently looks to be in the middle of a third wave. With the highest number of daily infections ever (2398) recorded yesterday. The day before yesterday it was 2301. Olympics is in July 2021. Thousands of athletes from around the world due to arrive in Japan in about six months. With Europe, South and North Americas at record infections, and now Japan as well, I feel the Olympics will have to be cancelled, and rescheduled for 2024. No chance in hell of having thousands of athletes living in close proximity, and keeping COVID under control. Hopefully Japan will be awarded hosting rights for 2024, and France moved back 4 years to 2028. |
