10 years old yes.

A worry? - no more than any other car IMO. Anyhow, you have about $20k out of your budget to throw at it if needed.

Lets look at it ... over $200,000 when new. Now, just about a quarter of that price. Hell even my T3s have held their value better than that! And you have to admit that in the performance arena the E39 is still right up there with today's offerings in your price bracket.

But the clincher for me would be the drive - there is simply nothing in a four door large saloon that is as impressive/sheer fun to sit behind the wheel of.

A little unfair choosing a car owned by James Bond. it has to be worth more !

Having been through the New V Old situation plenty of times before id go New or at worst 12 months old with less than 20000k's every time now.
Also the older the cars get regardless of k's things do get brittle and less reliable from aging, seals dry out, plastics get warped and brittle....

Not as much of an issue for a weekender, but as a daily driver older cars with K's become money pits...

One big factor for me with something that old is no warranty, so spending that much coin and no warranty is a no no for me

Actually even though it is not on your list I had a look at the IS-F the GTP006 was talking about. I have sat in several but not driven one and they feel very comfortable.

I looked up several magazine tests and was quite surprised at the results.

0-100 4.6, 0-400 12.5.

All this from a N/A 5 litre V8, who says Toyota only make white goods.....

At around $140,000 on road though new. Still .... they look like a Camry but by reading the comments on them they would scare the cardigan off you!

Yeh but what copper is going to believe a "hoon line" call about a camry that sounded like a V8 supercar overtaking them like they were going backwards....

There is a s/h in the goldy for $88k that look pretty good although anything for sale in the goldy should be investigated thoroughly (at least 10 times) before being purchased .

Wouldnt we all? If you could find one for under 100k .... or 150k ..... you would be pushing. The fact that it is a 2 door as well takes into aother bracket totally

This is the oldest one I could find and at over $200,000 .....

2004 DB9

Default My sixpence on the matter

1) New GT. At this price you can have your (or your entity's) name on the log books from day 1, and you KNOW that some knob hasn't thrashed it or kept it poorly, unless you are the said knob. Inspiring product.

2) Jaguar XF. Stunning. But really, I'm waiting a few years for the new XJ to be depreciated. Absolutely stunning that one.

3) Merc CLS500. Amazing design, industrial art. Also the odd AU cue, which I like. Replacement model is more conservative, adding to the allure of the original.

Honourable mention: F6, Audi A8.
Realistic mention: G6E turbo. Best bang for your buck Road Car out there, new from 20+K less than GT...

Can honestly say I'd pick the FPV F6 out of all these cars there. But I'd probably test drive the GT and end up with one of them :-P

Either the 335 GT, the F6, or the Jag. Unless your black and have gold teeth you cant have the Merc, The BMW badge is set aside for wan*ers. The Audi's look to povo in the present company. If Toyotas are kitchen white goods then the Lexus is just finished in stainless, still a fridge at the end of the day. The Subi and Volvo just dont it for me, neither does the Chrysler and you cant get the HSV because at some point you will have your pants pulled down by a new GT at the Traffic light Grand Prix. My heart says the FPV but would have to seriously consider the Jag, looks so good.

Although E55 was very tempting...just can't get past the semi-ugly look of the thing...

What is more important to you? The handling? The badge? What else is out there that would fall into this bracket that is on your most wanted list?

The criteria would be ......
*4 door sedan
*Daily use and carting a small family around
*Budget $75,000
*Must be under 100,000 k's

With the selection above, all are under 100,000 k'a while most are under 25,000 k's, some are new and a couple are demos. Be interesting if anyone could pick the most expensive?

A few pics to help with the selection with in the price range:

2010 SUBARU IMPREZA G3 MY11 WRX STI AWD SPEC R

2010 FPV GT FG BOSS 335

Mercedes E55 AMG 2003

2010 AUDIA4 B8 MY10 TIPTRONIC QUATTR

2005 BMW 740i E65 STEPTRONIC

2010 CHRYSLER 300C MY2010 SRT-8
Any of those.

The subi needs to be the sedan though. The sedans look 87563478235648276x better than the hatches. I would certiainly lean on that as my next car purely based on looks. The pumped rear quarters do it for me

The GT, is a GT and its supercharged. And its new and warranty and blah blah I want one.

E55 AMG, 4 letters - 2 numbers. E55 AMG. speaks for itself. and the quads out the rear look tops.

Audi A4, Not sure what motor this specific model is running, if its only a baby motor dont bother IMO. The sports variant is a goer though however the massive price tag is not!. However Audi's are fantastic. Really lifted their game in styling and content.

BMW 740, its a 7 series BMW!!!

300c SRT, Look horn, sound absolutely awesome, has pimp written all over it, and can go effing hard. Love them, again torn on this for my next car.

Lexus IS350 as mentioned is a hoot, from what I've heard.

However, as much as hot cars impress me, you already have at least one sweet as car at home already. Therefore my vote goes to the Jaguar XF. You worry that M5 "looks old", well that XF looks new, and looks stunning - and people are going to notice it.

Why 325i when you can get a 335i?

Lexus LS430, Passat R36, Audi S4...

I'd get the 2010 MERCEDES C200 MY10 CLASSIC as it would almost definitely have the lowest TCO over 6-8 or so years.
