Perhaps you should read my post. I clearly said based of manufacturer RRP. Just incase you're not clued up enough to understand, RRP = Recommended Retail Price.

And according to Ford, the Falcon XT BFII RRP is $34,990. Don't believe me? Look at their own site... http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Conte...1024&c=DFYPage

Based off that RRP, as I said before, option-free, it adds up to roughly 40k on-road.

That's one heavily discounted XR6 you're getting there, because it should be closer to 45k on-road.

Rather then accuse me being of wrong and not checking prices, perhaps you should check for yourself first. And if you hang around this forum, you'll realise that most of the time the statistics I post are correct information.

As I said, there's more to the story than pure tax. The pre tax price of an E350 is still higher than the price of an E350 in Germany with 16% value added tax.
When did LCT drop to 25%? And the 55% figure I posted was based on the 2x 10% taxes you posted previously + 35% LCT. 10+10+35 = 55.

Also, comparing the German price of $86,100 to our $126,500 leaves a 32% gap in value between them. If that figure of $86,100 was taxed 16% which I think you were implying it was, that means the E350 base is $72,324 AUD before any taxes. $72,324 is 57% of $126,500, leaving a gap for a possible 43% tax.

Well, there's a 43% price hike regardless.

In a recent NZ survey Ford came last in the "Quality/Reliability" category, Subaru was first. Holden was second to last.

Ford was also last in the "Number of Problems per 100 vehicles" category. Subaru was first in this category also.

Ford need to lift their game :

Did the people asked own the cars? Its not a fair test if you ask someone to rank car brands when they havn't experienced them all.

Statistics can "prove" anything


Also guys 10%+10% does NOT equal 20%.

Excuse my poor maths but...

Say a car has a tax-free value of $100,000.

If there's 10% GST and 10% Import Tax, wouldn't the GST amount to $10,000, and Import Tax to $10,000, therefore adding up to $20,000 of tax, which is 20% of the car's value?
