So would I. For others, it's an image thing. Driving around with a BMW badge on my hood doesn't do anything more for me than driving around with a G6E Turbo badge on my bum would... and at least my wallet would have a few bucks left in it.

Then there are those that do have wads of cash to sit in a $100k BMW that would never dream of owning a 'lowly' Ford.

That G6ET does look the goods, but really it has obviously been lowered and fitted with different rims, so comparing it to a stock base model 5 series (which is ~6 years old) is plain silly.

I know it's a moot point however I wonder what Ford Oz could come up with if they had a BMW R&D budget or conversely how would BMW go with an FG sized budget?

From the drain plug on the side of the transmission sump.... oil most be hot though.

Anyway I think that was more of a jab at the kind of people whom you used to find driving fords..... rather than a statement on fords no transmission dipstick policy.

He was talking about new Euro cars not having engine oil dipsticks.
Oil level and quality is monitored via the computer.
Some are also not coming out with oil drain plugs either, the oil has to be vacuumed out the block.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll dig this thread up again after he gets his car and does a few times, he is getting the TTI6, so ill need alot of work to beat him, 400nm from 1400 someone said!!!! Is that stock 3.0 or the turbo 3.0l?

Should I be worried about him doing mods? Like are there many places that will touch a new BMW? His old car was a done up 350z that was written off last year

Haha "air in tyres seems to be an optional extra"

I'll use that against him, and yes a massive tool.

It was the older M3 motor that was 225kW/400nM from 1200rpm. that was NA and 3l. the motor was also put in 535 gts but they are very heavy cars at 1950kg.

NOt sure about the TT.. not even sure if they are selling them yet. but even the 530d (3 litre diesel) engines are 6.5s to 100. so they all go OK.

Err no
Previous M3 (E46) had 252kw (7900rpm) and 365Nm (4900rpm) from a 3.2L Inline 6.

No such thing as a 535 gts, and no 5 series weighs anywhere near 1950kg

Yes.. it looks like the 535gt has a single turbo inline 6 option that gives the 400nm/225kW figure

but the 530d, the 535GranTurismo, the 540GT are 1960, 1940 and 2060kg respectively.. that is close enough to 1950 for me!

Dont confuse the 5 Series GT with a regular 5 Series. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/324...the-one/#title

What's a 530 go for anyway? Would the sale of one cover the purchases wished for above? LOL!

Saw two cars with similar damage at auction today that were of interest.

2007 E60 530i - went for $21,000.
2009 FG G6ET - went for $7,500.
