So are the cars the dealers are showing off not Australian spec? Because they have the DRL's in the lights.

That's correct, they are LHD American spec cars and there are quite a few minor differences to the final spec. They've only just started RHD production, so they wouldn't have had any actual spec cars available to show.

With the lousy AUD<->USD exchange rate, I am really wondering if Ford can stick to their pricing for Mustang or will it become a $75k car for a V6?

Surely they would have factored the falling dollar in their pricing, it's been heading south for a while now.

There would be a reasonable explanation as to why RHD lost some things as opposed to the tin foil hat stuff. Thanks.

They would have locked in an exchange rate for a while.

The V6 isn't coming here though, so the original question about exchange rates is not valid.

Oh, and not all rentals are v6's

I don't think that is correct. It would be suicide for Ford to sell the at that price. Probably around the 65k-70k would be the going price, and to be honest, I still think that's expensive.

Get with the times gents, 45K for a manual EcoBoost and 55K for the manual GT. (+ORC + tranny options, more for the Vert etc etc)

Ford website is your friend.

First 'lot' appears to be Nov/December delivery, second 'lot' appears to be closer to Feb, from then on it's anyone's guess but the estimated waiting lines appear to stretch to end of 2016.

"America’s hottest performance parts for Ford’s new Mustang are out of their US garage and on their way to Australia.

Shelby American, the parts business of the late US racer and hot-up king Carroll Shelby, has appointed Melbourne company Mustang Motorsport to supply and fit a huge range of look-good and go-faster parts for the 2015 Mustang.

Mustang Motorsport managing director Craig Dean said his company was contacting Ford dealers in Australia to alert them of the appointment and to establish agencies.

It means new Mustang owners can have genuine Shelby kits and individual parts professionally fitted to the 2015 Mustang, due in Ford dealerships in December.

Ford Australia is already holding more than 3000 orders with deposits for the six-model Mustang line-up.

Shelby American, a subsidiary of parent company Carroll Shelby International that manufactures cars, merchandise and specialist parts, has recently appointed Mustang Motorsport and similar supply-and- fit outlets in China, South Africa, Canada and the UK.

The reason for the global expansion of Shelby American is because the new Mustang is the first factory-produced right- hand-drive version in the 50-year history of the sports car.

Previous Mustangs were all converted from left-hand drive by companies including, ironically, Mr Dean’s 25-year-old associate business, Crossover Car Conversions."
“In a way, the new right-hand drive Mustang is doing me out of some business,” Mr Dean said. “But the demand for the Shelby kits has really taken off, even before customers have taken delivery of their new Mustang.”

The first kits arrive in Australia this month. Mustang owners are required to supply their new car to the authorized Shelby fit-out centre.

Mr Dean said kits were for the Shelby GT or the Shelby GT500 Super Snake. There were also a huge range of components and body parts.

He said it would take up to four weeks to modify the Mustang to Shelby status, though many jobs would be ready in about two weeks.

The kits start at $49,990 for the Shelby GT and $64,990 if it includes a supercharger and other heavy-duty components. The Super Snake kit, which can take the power out to 750kW (1000hp), costs $84,990.

This is added to the price of the Mustang — from $54,990 for the GT V8 manual coupe, to $63,990 for the automatic convertible.

There will also be power upgrades and Shelby body parts for the 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder version available on demand. The EcoBoost starts at $44,990.

Prices include parts such as carbon-fibre bonnet and other panels, Weld offset racing wheels, heavy-duty axles, adjustable suspension and performance differentials.

The optional supercharger comes from Ford Performance Racing.

“There are no limits to what a customer can do with the kits,” Mr Dean said.

He has already built two Shelby Mustangs based on left-hand-drive models he imported from the US and converted.

“These were used to familiarize ourselves with the new model Mustang and the kits.”

Supercharged Shelby upgrade will cost more than the car.

Vehicle price $54,990 for the GT V8
Shelby upgrade $64,990 if it includes a supercharger
